Really hope this isn't real.

Nottingham's Intu Victoria Centre has been evacuated and Army bomb disposal experts have just arrived at the scene.

Hundreds of shoppers have made their way to several evacuation points around the building, and there are a number of police vehicles outside the centre.

Controlled explosion carried out?

A 1000 residents live above and are currently trapped.

I really hope this isn't the real deal. Politically it's one of the most neutral places left and historically Labour run.

No idea why they'd target this City.

Makes me glad to be the other side of the city centre at work, if I were at home, I'd be too close for comfort (about 100 yards away) which is far too reminiscent of the arndale centre in '96 (though of course, this is a suspect suitcase, whereas that was a bloomin great truck, but you know what I mean).

Guess they're not too worried then if they are keeping the residents locked above

Edit:- Nottingham post reporting "some sort of bang" from within.. the reporter on the scene is all "we dont know if it was a controlled explosion or not", I'm pretty sure, if it wasn't, and it was a bomb, "some sort of bang" would have been an understatement.

It was pretty loud. Had people across the road scurrying down Clumber Street.

After the threat hoaxes at local schools recently, there's someone with an agenda here.

I live and work well away from the City centre luckily. Fingers crossed its just a prank.

I'm down by the canal just past the castle, so plenty far enough for me. All be over with by the time I'm done here.. always miss the fun

It's only a wee bomb scare! Don't be worrying about it and go about your day.

Christ I have had about 5 or 6 of them at the end of the road that I work in and a controlled explosion on each one.

Normally I wouldn't be too bothered by it, but I remember the 7.5 tonne truck bomb in '96, that took out my windows and I was half a mile away, so I am naturally a little cautious.

I'm not worryin' about it, nowt i can do. Just hope its all cleared up before I head home later.

Shopping Centre up the road in Sutton was cleared out for a suspect package recently too, turned out to be nothing and I assume this will be the same.

Better safe than sorry.

Just been working at the archery and heard about this off some of the customers coming in. Didn't hear anything from the town square

I just walked past the market square not half hour ago.. bloomin archery made me go all the way around.. bloomin things :P

That said, would make a much better target than a shopping centre.

nah, just a face in the crowd, saw the sign saying "square closed" and thought "oh dear, that is rather bothersome, one supposes one will have to take a stroll around the outside"
