All you people buying a 1080, will you be upgrading to a 1080Ti later on?

I won't be gaming higher than 1440p and there was never a 970 TI so I doubt there'll be a 1070 TI. I'll be getting the 1070 and avoiding the 1080 - 1080 TI buyers remorse

I used 470 then 570 and 670 . it was good time good performace and not break the wallet but since went for 780ti after that getting only top end cards and now it turning into an expensive hobbie.

Going by historical pricing it would be far more tempting to wait for a 1080Ti, or go to the 1070 as a stop gap measure. With the dramatically inflated price for the cards and no way to accurately predict the price, it's a difficult decision to make. £450 for xx80s is tempting, £600+ is a stupid price. I can easily see them launching the 1080Ti at another stupid price of £900.

I can see myself going 1070s in SLI as an upgrade for my 970s in SLI, and then going for a better Volta chip and going for 4K@120Hz. Hopefully Nvidia will address DX12 performance, and 4K@120Hz displays will have come down in price and be a more mature tech. And hopefully competition will get rid of these stupid prices.

I hope nvidia realise there is a price ceiling for these things. They can't charge Titan prices for a ti card - can they?

More likely they're making hay while the sun shines with no competition from AMD so they overprice the 1080. When AMD eventually come out with something that makes the excessive price clear, nvidia can cut the price easily. Likewise when the 1080ti comes out I'd expect the 1080 (and maybe 1070) to drop in price to make space at the top.

Ideally 1080ti would be no more expensive than the current high end 1080s, but it probably will edge up a bit. And with 1080 being a relatively small chip, there is plenty of room for 1080ti to be a monster.

I'll definitely do this, I hope that the 1080Ti could start to handle 4k on some titles.
