The open beta of this begins at tomorrow at 9am. You can preload it now.

It's the first game from Q Games that is not under the PixelJunk name so it's probably something a bit different from them.

According to Eurogamer, "The Tomorrow Children is set in a strange void where you send children to islands on a bus, have them gather resources, then receive rations, build generators, and erect defences against mysterious monsters called the Izverg."

And that's all I know.

Some video from the closed beta showing gameplay.

From what Ive played with it, its brilliant, but I expect the same NMS meme to follow it too...

It requires unspoken collaboration to survive and thrive which seems to be quite a daunting task to ask the normal console gamer - how this game/playtime does will depend very much on the community you are in...

The graphic design is something Ive just never seen before and really is unique - the gameplay kinda becomes mesmerising after a while

No Man's Sky.
Man I feel Im in one of those charity adverts where instead of feeding ic1male, Ive taught him how to fish...

I wont be around in the open beta, but I would suggest maybe trying to get a OcUK town organised if theres enough interested people (make sure to be a resident of any town you go to to ensure you get all the tools available - thats pretty impossible in established towns), you just wont get the full impact of the games numerous upgrades without a lot of people grafting - think communism! Playing on/for your own will just lead to nothing but useless toil

There are so many questions I have about this now after playing for a bit. The tutorial is absolutely useless.

Ask and Ill try to help - just make sure the store is stocked and hope no one overuses the workbench wasting resources on things you dont need. When you get attacked youll need those resources to rebuild...

Use the treadmills to power your town - its basically a hammering buttons to match a line, so useful to do it a few times a day if unsure what to do/waiting for the bus. Im unsure about knowing when you are falling short - it seemed obvious to me when new buildings were added more power was needed - starting up a town is bloody hard I found!

I forgot to say earlier - find the ministry of information, it should give you a decent overview of things and why things like the dolls matter.

Did you ensure you are a resident?

Well I went to the workbench but there weren't enough resources for me to build a house, if that's what makes you resident?

And it seems really difficult to find any resources. There are a few islands that the bus takes you to but there doesn't seem to be any metal/wood/coal left.

Yeah you need to use your passport to make yourself a resident (and the number you can have depends on the size of your town). Being a resident means you can level up and do things like become mayor etc...

The island will eventually be replaced with a new one! Dont get caught out in the dark!

I decided to go to a new town and see if I could get a better understanding. The power generator has a number on it which goes down with time so I guess that's the total power remaining?

I tried building a house and got the green outline but couldn't work out how to actually start the building of it. :D

And how do you unpack boxes? I've seen them lying around with like "comrade pickaxes (4)" and a circle to pick them up but how to get to use the axes?

I've been playing this non-stop since noon now. Love it. Starting from a relatively blank town really helped work out what things do.

The only problem I'm finding so far is one of communication. People keep spending the resources on unnecessary things when we need to put them towards something else.

Yeah kinda the concern I had about it, I still dont know if thats a (story related) part of the final game but it would be easier with some form of communication. I dont think voice chat would work but something like Souls messages would be a good touch

Also once youve gone through the whole gameplay loop Im unsure if progression/unlocks is reward enough to keep doing that - what does having a bigger and bigger town really offer?
