BHS to be liquidated - 11,000 jobs lost

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36437445

Sad day for the British high street. I have some fond memories of the cafe in the BHS in Preston many, many years ago.

Sympathies with anyone affected by the job losses. Phillip Green should be ashamed of himself.

You are conflating two issue to be fair here I feel. Green sold the business.

The business failed becasue it simply lost its way.

Well maybe the guy who owned it for 15 years should have put it on the right track. Crazy talk I know. If the reports are correct, then BHS has a pension deficit of £571m. Sir Phillip and his family took out £586m of BHS during his time as owner.

The result of a company failing to change with the times but you have to feel sorry for the staff.

Had a wander around in our local store at the weekend as they're selling everything off but there just wasn't anything i would want.

Maybe he tried.

the problem is, people didn't like BHS.

I had no idea they were still going. I thought they closed down years ago.

Turns out that was only my local branch, and I misunderstood... :p
