BHS to be liquidated - 11,000 jobs lost

I'm not so certain about GAME. After their last fumble where they nearly folded they've made big strides in diversifying and changing their business model.

For instance, GAME are now running a model similar to Amazon, in that they are a marketplace for other vendors.

GAME are heading into troubled waters again apparently, E3 could be male or break for them depending on what's announced.

Used to love the canteen-style cafe in the Northumberland Street store as a kid back in the early 90s. Used to always get taken there for lunch when ever we went shopping in Newcastle. Even in my late teens the meals were still legendary - proper grub!

There was offers to take over the business and save jobs but the Administrators don't care about jobs and peoples lively hoods, only maximising returns for grubby billionaire bankers.

Currently there is a lack of digital skills within the UK so gaining such a qualification could help you the staff get an alternative job. There are many places where learners can study, local adult education, college at home or online.

Interesting choice of user name given the link you're promoting... do people really feel the need to pay money in order to learn the basics of spreadsheets, word processors etc..? AFAIK the DWP can and does help with this sort of stuff not that there isn't a load of freely available material out there anyway. Frankly any book by Walkenbach via your local library will probably offer deeper knowledge of excel than those courses you're promoting.

Sir means and carries the same significance as Mr nowadays.

Sir means:

a) I was a high-ranking civil servant
b) I gave loads of money to Party funds
c) I'm a major draw for the public and the Party in power would like to ride my coat-tails.
d) My company makes lots of money therefore I must be a Worthy.

Walked past the huge BHS in Stratford on Avon yesterday, very sad to see the closing down signs in the window. :(
Not sure there will be much left on the high street soon, other than coffee shops and Poundland type stores.

Former BHS boss Sir Philip Green has reportedly splashed out on a £48.4million state-of-the-art private jet as thousands of workers face the dole after the store's collapse.
The 64 year old purchased the Gulfstream G650ER - which has a top speed of 680mph - as an upgrade on the luxury jet he already owns.
It is the aviation company's newest flagship which can carry eight passengers and buyers have the choice of 12 predefined floorplans.
The new purchase comes despite the £571million BHS pensions black hole, reports The Sun.

So this Philip Green is a *****?

By the sound of it take the 'Sir' title away - that's reserved for true gentleman. I'd also take back every single penny he made of the collapse of BHS - starting with the jet!

Id rather he was forced to pay the tax due on the company he owns in his wife's name whilst she resides in Monaco. £hundreds of millions a year and £billions in missed revenue. That's just one person. Then we should do it to everyone using that method.
