Okay, so managed to bench single Titan X vs Single 1080 in number of games and Synthetics at like for like settings used.

System stats were same throughout. 5960x @ 4.6 Ghz, Cache @ 4.4 Ghz DDR 4 @ 2800 Mhz. Fan profiles were at 1:1 on GPU's to keep the speed constant

Titan X Settings
Stock Settings - 1316 Mhz core / 7012 Memory throughout tests
Overclock Setting - 1474 Mhz core / 8020 Memory throughout tests

1080
Stock Settings - 1848 Mhz core / 10012 Memory throughout tests
Overclock Setting - 2101 Mhz core / 11030 Memory throughout tests

Clocks can go higher on both, in fact 1080 can get near 2200 Mhz which is pretty good considering recent MSI and ASUS models failed to reach 2100, but felt this was a good number for daily gaming profile. Likewise for Titan X 1474 Mhz was daily gaming profile, could do higher for bench, but was a decent figure overall for the TX.

All tests were at 3440 x 1440. Scores below are average fps with Min / Max in brackets, though for some tests the Max / Min are pretty crap representations.

Far Cry Primal
Titan X Stock - 53 fps (45/59)

1080 Stock - 80 fps (43/120)

Phewww! Think I will have a breather before comparing SLI TITAN X vs 1080. Either way pretty happy with the GTX 1080. Gives it that little bump up for running 3440 x 1440 @ 100hz and with SLI does show a decent game when adding up the fps increase. Off to go put them to use in Blood and Wine :D

Damn you :D. Knew you would give in :p

Let us know how you get on with it. Waiting for EVGA SC cards. Here's hoping they are here before the 10th.

Ive ordered the SC card and i really hope its here before E3!

Ive had my GTX 780 on ebay thinking i would have the 1080 before the auction ended but someone bought it for £200! Too high an offer to not sell!

So im using on-board graphics atm lol

I don't see the logic of going FE for the sake of a couple of weeks - there are quite a few cards in the mid £500s with open coolers and pretty much reference PCBs which are probably going to perform close to top tier ones - or there's custom ones at FE prices for those really into overclocking.

Pushed the button on a "cheapo" KFA2 GeForce GTX 1080 "Reference Blower" and a waterblock. Should be with me week after next - I'll be away on business all next week so that will be a nice package to get back to :) Currently on an 680 and a 2560x1440 res so can't wait for a bit of ULTRA DOOM!

I am quiet partial to the reference style cooler to be honest. All black and silver metal suits my build and green logo is a nice accent, so don't mind not running at full whack all the time. Sad from most peoples POV I know but meh :)

I hope the Aftermarket ones do OC further. So far my Refrence design seems to have out clocked the MSI and Strix reviews I have seen so remains to be seen how they OC once people get a chance with them properly.

Awesome job, thanks for the comparison :)

No problem :)

Mine arrived :)

Suprised, they do sound quieter then my refrence Titan X's at like for like fan profile, not absolute silent but a good deal quieter, I imagine after market will be even nicer. One of the two OC's very nicely, hitting just under 2200 Mhz before crashing on stock volts while the second is managing just abit above 2100. In SLI for gaming both running happy at 2050 Mhz no issue and 11050 on the Memory with minimum of tweaks.

Will post some tests in abit of the 1080 at stock and OC vs what my Titan X did at stock and OC. :)

***REMOVED***

Erm did you not just make at least 500 posts saying how much you dislike the 1080?!? haha

Spammed all the 1080 threads for 2 weeks saying how bad it is, then got one anyway LOL.

Radox-o, was that the old tomb raider or ROTR you used? I guess old one from FPS.

Looks like the 1080 gets a decent lead in newer or DX12 games, but only about 10-20% in the other games.

Still that titan X at 1475mhz is a lot faster than the 980ti I had so it will be a bigger increase for me, but in newer games / drivers and DX12 etc. I think the 1080 will be further ahead so still worth getting over the titan X.
