Hi there anybody considering usung these in their builds, morr specifically the black ones, I have 1 word of advice - DON'T
I har them throughout my build which I completed maybe around summer time last year. Every single set has failed. They were stuck together and very difficult to prise apart, and once apart the valve in the female fitting stayed in the open position, to varying degrees. Which resulted in me giving my surroundings a coating of red X1 fluid. Fortunately, given the difficulty I had in initiating the disconnect to start with, and from what I have since read after completing my build, I was able to avoid catastrophe (I think) with minimal fluid getting anywhere near any components. Think the hard drive cage got the worst with the uppermost drive getting a bit of fluid on casing. Hopefully once everything airs it will be fine and no lasting damage.
To be fair to Koolance I will say that they do specify that they are only to be used with Koolance's own fluid. So perhaps it is partially my own fault. However, from what I have read this problem, which appears widespread (mines bave 100% failure rate) is exclusive to the black QDC's only. The chrome versions do not apparently suffer from this issue and having used some of the older chrome versions in a previous build, I must say I am very dissappointed. These things are expensive (think I spent around £80 on them) and they are now only fit for the bin, whilst potentially ruining hundreds of pounds of hardware - as I say I am hopeful I have avoided this.
I will try take some photos later to show extent of "corrosion" and the stuck valve positions.
