As title really, can you recommend a quality 32" TV with good viewing angles?

I haven't looked at TV technology for a good 5-7 years now so I not sure whats up to scratch and whats worth scratching.

Oh and budget isn't too much of an issue as long as it isn't silly silly money.

Thanks in advance!

It may sound like bigger is better, but I'd recommend you get a 40" screen for bedroom. The slim bezels now make popping one on a wall or stand very easy. Samsung 6400 series are excellent 1080p units.

We have a UE32H6400 in the kids' playroom, and it is a great TV for the money. Can't comment on the J/K series iterations, but there is probably value in grabbing an H if one can get the right deal!

Richer sounds are selling off the stock of the H6400 sets and i must say they are great.

I have just got the 48" for 399 in store and i am VERY happy with it.

I have the Samsung UE32K5500, its a very good TV and, unlike a lot of 32" TV's, is full 1080p. I also looked at Panasonic but their 32" TV's are 720p. I also believe the Sony 70x range are very good.

was in Hughes today with a similar requirement, am looking to replace a Philips IPS tv PF9946, which had per the old style of LCD tv speakers on the side and decent sound without the need for a soundbar etc (which I do not want in a bedroom)
I think the bedroom is probably the most difficult listening and viewing environment , off axis with the screen and viewers heads probably not vertically oriented for the tv's speakers.

Wanted to look at a 32" samsung (do not really need smart) which they did not have, but this would be a pls screen (as most of theirs are, so off axis viewing not good)
They did however have a panasonic for £269 pretty sure it was Panasonic Viera TX-32CS510B, which the assistant told me was not a Vestel and he seemed to think it had an IPS screen so viewing angle would be good (like the et60 in our living room) it is only 720 screen but personally would be fine at 32" and less demanding viewing environment ... but the sound is going to be rubbish so in a quandry

I would probably have picked up the Samsung UE32J5100 at the Amazon bank holiday deal of £159, and compromised on the sound, if I had been on the ball. (newer ue32k5xxx may have slightly better video processing, but for a bedroom I think will not see the difference)

Have a Samsung UE32J5600 which I'm very happy with. 32" is plenty for a bedroom. Anything larger or wall-mounted sounds a bit nerdy to have in a bedroom if you ask me. If you're watching that much TV in bed you really ought to get up more :p

My opinion is a 32" is too small period and being girlie about anything bigger shows you who has the balls in the bedroom. Anything that displays a television picture benefits from a larger screen end of.

We went from an old 32" lcd to a new 32" lcd and the difference in size is striking despite the screen size being the same. A 40" lcd was a few cm's shorter but about 10cm wider than the old 32" and IMO would have been a nice size but SWMBO said no and as she is the one that watches the tv i gave in.

This, my wife told me 40" would be to big and not worth it. Being a good husband I decided not to argue. Sure enough when the 32" arrived because the bezels are tiny it makes the whole tv looks smaller.

My problem is wall space really, being in a loft space. Spec me a 40" to convince me otherwise?

Just my opinion but I found the 6400 a disappointment, given the praise.

The freeview is ok but not outstanding. I guess it may be down in part to signal strength but ultimately freeview looked much better on my old CRT with a box. I suspect this is more of a reflection on LCD/SD content than a mark against the 6400 but given the reputation of the set I had hoped for more.

We also have a j5500 Samsung and the picture quality seems identical.

The 6400 also had motion blur. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot (light level maybe effects it?)

Still, it's a very good TV. My main point is I am unsure it's worth the extra money over other Samsungs. I would also consider the newer models, as I think at least one has a higher motion rate.

I've gone with the 6400.

I'll tell you what I think when it arrives.

Had to go with a 32" on weighing up.

Wall space meant moving brackets and making a mess of the wall. Also how close I will be sitting to it when not in bed (above monitors, flashing in my peripheral etc.).

If it were a monitor then 40" every time!

The H6400 is a great tv you won't be disapointed with your choice. But got to agree on the sizes these days compaired to a few years ago. old style 32" looked a lot bigger compaired to todays TV's. I don't think id go any smaller then a 40 in the bedroom. Even few years ago people used to use 22" in the kitchen. But now a lot more are using 32" due to the thin bezels

Freeview is always going to look Tosh Compaired to a box. If you set it up then freeview on the TV will be fine. We got both our H6400 calibrated and SD channels look fine obviously not as good as HD but still decent enough

I think you can often pick up very good calibrations on the various user forums, the manufacturing environment/panels are not so diverse that one calibration would not work for most tvs' of same model, and in the absence of an easy way to change the calibration for ambient lighting conditions they are inevitably a compromise (personally off the same base calibration I may just increase the gamma value during daylight)

What I had regarded as the grail of review sites hdtvtest now seems to have less comprehensive/frequent reviews, without analysis of panel types and viewing angles say. [prad.de leads the way for computer monitors, but not as thorough for tv's]

Does anyone have any review site recommendations ?
[I do not think 'which' reviews are very credible, they do not have the technical expertise or dumb it down for their readership, Amazon reviews too, you cannot tell if someone is genuinely reviewing exactly the same set ]

With the 4 cores processing on many samsung's now there should be the power to do effective sd upscaling to the full hd panel, but I think they are spending the $'s on the user interfaces instead - what their market analysis says we want

subsequently found a credible USA site giving tv review including their version of Samsung 6400 which had this comment

Unfortunately, the VA panel type that aids the TV's black level also makes for less-than-stellar horizontal viewing. That's one of this TV's flaws: you simply can't watch it easily from extreme angles. Unless Samsung swaps over to different panel types in the larger sizes, this can be expected across the whole J6300 series. If you're five feet away—pretty normal for this screen size—you can't move more than a foot-and-a-half in either direction before the picture starts to degrade, which is a bummer

anyone refute this ?
the review is otherwise complimentary about good blacks and smart features, however viewing angles are a deal breaker for me.

for fun, Here were a couple of picture of ips Panasonic et60 and philips ips (bedroom tv I want to replace) taken on and off-axis/45

Viewing angles are an issue with the VA panels which are otherwise favoured for their black levels. If you value viewing angles over black levels then try to find an IPS panel instead.

Personally it doesn't bother me as I'm the only one in the house.
