I've never owned a tablet before and after two trips to PC World I still cant decide which one to get. I've only ever owned Android phones so i guess it makes sense to buy an Android tablet but then maybe having an iOS device would make for a nice change. From the reviews i've seen the Samsung has the better screen but the iPad has better tablet app support to actually make use of the 10" screen.

The main thing that concerns me about the Samsung is that i read somewhere that their tablets only get one Android OS version upgrade so it wont get N/7.0 when it arrives later this year.

Has anyone used both devices for a meaningful amount of time and if so which one did you prefer?

Thanks

I've had android phones for years after a couple of iphones and plan to stay that way but my ipad mini 2 retina that I've had for 2.5 years, I use every day and can't fault it. It's just as good as the day I had it. That said, I don't watch films on it and it's never been connected to itunes.

iPad Air 2 all the way, had the same dilemma myself and couldn't decide between the two. After having spoke to other friends/family and asking on forums and trying them i went for the iPad.

Have both an Android phone and Box at home for movies and other little bits so having iOS was a nice change. I honestly find the iPad more of a premium product, just feels better and nicer and the battery is bigger as well. I think it's almost an 7300mah for the iPad and only a 5700mah for the Samsung if going the 9.7 and around 4000 for the 8".

Does everything I need, can multitask, good wifi, battery, app store is solid and can find what you want and the screen is really nice although Samsungs is better it's still really damn good.

I have a Tab S 10.5 and an Air 2. If you watch films then the tab S screens are simply a mile away from any other tablet screen, it's absolutely insane that panel. I use both for testing various things at the moment but prefer the tab S for web/tv & film, everything else is ipad. Tab's do get OS updates last but they typically get 2 right now from Samsung. ipad apps are better than Android tablets which typically struggle to use all the screen size correctly. Hearthstone is better on the tab s fwiw.
