I know its short notice, but I'm heading to York tomorrow for 5 days. I've been before and I know some good places for eating, but its been couple of years since my last visit, so I'm wondering what's changed since then.

I know good places like the Olive Tree, Blue Bicycle, Betty's Tea Room, Oscars, Harkers, Rustique, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Café Rouge. Any other suggestions? Would like to try some new places I've not been to before.

I only ask because I've not been for a while, so I wanted to know if anything had changed. Like for example, Red Chilli. Used to be a good Chinese, but have been told its gone downhill.

Fair cop but there was a thread couple of weeks ago:p

Red Chilli I think I said it had gone down hill and thats still the case as I went on a works dinner there:(

Star in the city is worth a look if that's your thing, some fancy chef who had/has a pub in the country which had Michelin Star IIRC.

Smokehouse stuff you could try Gibson's bar.

1331 does good honest cheap food.

Rice Style for something out of town or Old Siam for Thai food in the city.

Yak & Yeti for Nepalese food.

A shout out is deserved for http://www.fossgate.co.uk which is a street in York where they have invested huge sums creating a continental feel with a wide range of food, drink & coffee shops.

Hope the above helps I may of repeated some suggestions from last time :p Enjoy York its a great city as you well know:cool:

I have lived in York all my life and not sure about places to eat, they seem to come and go so quick. I hope you enjoy our city mate.

Sorry about that one! I've never been, only read about it and thought it'd be good given the write-up it received in the press etc. My bad!

Do you like Thai food? If so, try http://khaosanroadyork.co.uk/. I've definitely been there a bunch of times and the food is always lovely. Although, to be fair, I've not been in over 3 years. Having a toddler doesn't really give you much opportunity for going out!
