Resolutions have always been 'named' after their vertical size, right? Like how 1920x1080 is 1080p. Wouldn't that mean that 4k would be something more along the lines of 7680 x 4320? 4K is only 2160p, whereas 4K literally sounds like it's 4x bigger than 1080p to those who aren't knowledgeable.
Is this some kind of marketing ploy where the horizontal size is secretly the number companies care about now to make them seem more impressive, or was it simply a swanky name for the new resolutions? It kinda sounds like the former.
