Hi all,

Yes, this is a car insurance thread but I'm after advice on sales/services and there may be more people in here that know.

Wife has swapped car insurance to a company called Broker Direct. They were £30 cheaper than the renewal offer we had and as the wife works for an insurance broker she took it out with them.

Broker Direct have offered the policy, we've handed the money over and the policy is now live. They are now claiming there was a bug in their system and they want another £100 on top of the insurance.

Obviously, my wife's work is going to phone them tomorrow and try and sort it.

However, I was hoping one of you would know anything we can throw at them to make sure they don't try and screw us over by insisting we pay the extra money. Sure they've offered a service, we've taken it and the contract is now agreed.

As you've said a contract was set and payment was made and it is too late for them.

If they cancel the policy go straight to the FOS.

People really need to avoid these small internet brokers which are really just small offices somewhere which used to be a high street broker.

Also complain to the underwriter of your policy. If it is a major insurer they should be helpful.

That's what I have said, it's too late once the contract is agreed.

I don't think they are small, they provide insurance directly to brokers instead of the general public. My wife's company certainly wouldn't use them if they were like that.

Any big broker gets insurance straight from underwriters. There isn't another broker in between.

Is your wife's contract with Broker Direct or the company she works for? You just said they don't provide insurance to the general public.
