Dunno if this means anything for us with regards to gfx cards and cpus etc. But i just read this from videocardz site and it linked to this page.

http://forums.videocardz.com/topic/...tronic-products-eliminated-as-of-july-1-2016/

You reckon it will bring down the price of stuff for us if it does include things like gpus etc? Unless they are already done away with?

If we leave the EU tho due to the vote coming up we probably wont get this benefit yeah?

I'd guess we'd still benefit from it till the actual exit date. Even if the vote is to leave it means "nothing" till it's all negotiated and date fixed for exit.

GPU's are already 0% for import duty - we just get stung for VAT and a handling fee

This is correct, we have 0% import duty on VGA the difference in cost from US prices you see are down to

1) VAT @ 20%
2) Generally the US etailor/retilors do not make as much margin as in Western Europe. This is a generalisation of course but working closely with our US team we find the competition in the US drives margins lower for resellers.

Man, all I want is to be able to buy things cheaper (don't we all lol)... I know that importing things from the EU is nice and easy currently. But that could change. I seem to recall that one must pay VAT on good imported from outside the EU, lke the US. Which kills off the idea of importing to save costs, since it ends up costing the same/more anyway due to tax and shipping costs.

Agree, the £/€ has seen worse times (pre referendum), expect a small slump and then I think it will continue as is (IMO).

for most computer components the rate you need to look at is £/$ as this is the $ is the currency the majority of the units are purchased in. The Euro number is of little consequence.

Pound may take a hammering on leave/remain EU vote. Expect could see large price rises.

people arnt happy about how highly priced most nvidia cards are at the moment.raising the price when you launching new gear = bad.

they need to shift units.so pricing needs to be right.

they wont go up.

As I understand it, If we leave the EU everything will still be in place for the next 2 years.
We wont have to pay import tax and so on. The pound is not very strong against the dollar at the moment, even worse the Euro, but our living standards are so much worse than Germany ect, and with Vat and the bad exchange rate we get bum ******.

In the short term, there's no question whatsoever. The pound loses value whenever Brexit takes a lead in the polls - imagine if we actually leave.

Whatever view you take on the referendum, the short term impact is clear.

Since when do companies pass on these savings? Fuel tax went down lots so it went down a little bit for the customer.

Will just be profit margin for companies.
