I tried logging but nothing happened. I've lost my anaconda which took me ages to get. Luckily got some insurance but not enough to cover costs of equipment.

Think frontier would help to reimburse any costs?

I would think your chances are rather good, especially if you've logged it as a bug.

Thanks bud.

Any idea how they would reimburse?
I think the only thing I didn't get back was my rather spiffy shield generator (worth 623k in insurance credits - so the thing must've cost me a fair bit of coin).

I finally got around to firing this up, and I'm stuck, believe it or not, on the landing pad. The pre-flight checklist refuses to recognise the xbox triggers. Do I have to temporarily rebind them, or can I bypass the stupid checklist or something?

It doesn't come up every time, does it? :o

Is this improved with the new engineers update? Ive not played for a good while, i have all the ships and couple billion in the bank so i know what im doing. Any improvements or still boring?

There's been a massive change to AI, so it's:
- Much safer in patrolled systems, occasionally the cops will even help you
- Far more dangerous in anarchy systems
- The upper skill level NPCs are now a genuine challenge
I love the changes, FAR more immersive.

Engineers = Grind & RNG

Which just doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

You can disable the checklist in the menu. Can't remember if it's in the right panel or in the game options.

I finally got round to getting out the update and I think it makes things a lot easier to understand. Have unlocked the first tier of upgrades with a few engineers, but not done any upgrades yet. Nearly lost my anaconda at a compromised beacon which was a close call. Liking the new huge pulse laser

Okay I'm back... :p Really enjoying the new patch - The new mission system is awesome, a big gripe of mine that made me rage quit a few times in the past :p

I've got about 3.9mil in credits and am in a half equipped Cobra Mk3 - Should I just kit out the Cobra and continue, or is it worth moving onto a new ship? Maybe save a little more for an Asp Explorer?

Keep the ship you have until you can buy, A grade and afford two rebuys worth of your new ship. This is certainly the case until you're looking at Anacondas etc. Otherwise you'll be jumping into a ship that doesn't perform as well as your old one.

Currently out at Beagle Point, so won't be back in the bubble for a while yet. However, reading about the recent Engineers update doesn't fill me with much confidence or hope upon my return.

Everything I've read to date implies that the whole game is now very unbalanced and becoming very much RNG when coming face to face with NPC's. The whole idea of "Crafting" I'm not at all interested in and doesn't really add anything to the game for me, especially considering how unbalanced it now seems to have become.

In view of this, I'm not really looking forward to when those green men finally make an appearance. I feel things will be even more cut throat then and very much more unbalanced in the favour of the AI.

Shame, as I very much like the game, heck, I backed it in KS. Just at the moment it feels like Frontier have lost their way with it, but that might just be me?

I just put a video together showing a typical v2.1 interdiction. I'm not doing missions at the moment, just doing some trading to build up my funds since after buying the Anaconda it made me fairly poor! You can see what the AI's like and also see how I deal with it. I'm far from an excellent pilot, but am managing to hold my own, even in a D grade pig of an Anaconda that's carrying 400t of cargo.

I would save for the asp. It's a nice upgrade from the cobra in most areas, and is a great all rounder. I do have a cobra that I still jump in for fun though. You'll want to have at least 15m assets before buying one so you can get the best FSD. So feel free to kit out the cobra in the meantime.

Thanks for the advice :) I think I'm going to upgrade my Cobra and save up for the Asp Explorer :)

i think it now important to turn on crime reporting when you're trading, to get that help if you are interdicted.

Why wouldn't you fly with "Crime Reporting" on? I don't think I've ever turned it off

Ah, but if you are doing a long distance smuggling run you don't want the plod showing up and scanning your hold of illegal slaves just because some Sidewinder decided to interdict you! Other than that, I'd agree.

The Asp is one of the best general purpose ships in game. If you exclude the "explorer" build of the Anaconda, the Asp has the best jump range in game for real world use, it's fairly quick and carries an OK set of weapons and deferences. Just a great ship for doing tours of areas (e.g. visiting engineers). Don't ever sell it once bought, just keep it at your home base whilst you wander off in something else for more specific missions.

Nice :) I'll definitely start saving!

Talking of "Home Bases"... Where does everyone call "Home" in Elite?

I'm a bit of a wanderer at the moment - Haven't found my place :p I'd like to one day get a permit to Sol and make that my home :D
