Postal votes - are they confirmed?

For the first time in my life I'm voting by post. We all know how bad the post can be (granted it's usually pretty good). Will I get a confirmation that my vote was received? Will I get a confirmation that it was counted?

There's no confirmation of anything, you just stick it in the post and hope for the best.

Can't speak for the OP but I've used a postal vote for a few years now. I'm on away on holiday for this one but my job means I can't guarantee being at home on election days so it's just easier to have one permanently rather than keep asking each time.
