[Spec me] Online RPG Game

Not an MMO, something like Dragon Age or Kingdoms of Amalur, with persistent (whether through local save games or otherwise) online Co-op spanning over multiple sessions. I've been looking and thinking and I really can't figure out any games that do this that aren't MMOs. Any ideas?

Perfect example: Torchlight 2's online with Dragon Age gameplay.

If you like open worlds and games like Oblivion and Skyrim, then Elder Scrolls Online. Is B2P and you do not need to spend a single penny after that. Nothing is behind paywalls except you want to buy the dlcs, but that doesn't affect your character or your competitiveness.

By the time you might want to buy the DLCs you will have clocked around 1000 hours if you do not like mass scale PVP*, if you plan to do the quests and explore all the available content.

*Because if you like mass scale PvP then unlimited hours, and is fun for those coming from DAOC and EVE. :D

Cheers for the suggestions, Divinity is on the to-do list but not what we really feel like at the minute, want something more action orientated over strategy.

Division isn't interesting atm with all the script kiddies and poor Ubi support. Assuming it's still alive when the mommies credit card using basement babies move on and ruin another game, will give it a bash then. :D

Neverwinter 2 looks like it could be next! Playing War in the North atm, it's quite good.

I play TESO actually, she hates it, so it's solo only I'm afraid. :p
 
Gauntlet remake wasn't bad - there is the new DND game with 4 players and 1 player plays as the DM. I can't remember the name.

Secret World is MMO - buy to play - one of the most underrated games; as you get the base game; based in todays world but with everything that goes bump in the night and some really awesome quests.

Neverwinter is another solid game you could play with her.....Neverwinter Nights 2; but make sure to get the complete version with Mask of the betrayer - one of the best expansions ever released for any game.....

I own Secret World too, but I can't play it because it ran so badly for me, like I couldn't even turn the camera without it pausing every other second. Weird thing was it was fine if I never moved the camera. It was a fun game though, ended up in some remote village with zombies and the game in general does have a quality I've seen in no other MMO, it's quite similar to a single player game as far as mechanics and gameplay go. Might give it a try again, I've just never managed to get it running close to acceptable on any hardware I've owned. :confused:

But as far as MMOs go, she loves Guild Wars 2 and I 'don't mind' it so that's our go to. Neverwinter 2 is already on the list ;) cheers for the input! Have Gauntlet on PS+ so could try that, just not sure if it's what we're after. Not necessarily open world but kinda needs lots of loot, lots of level ups and builds and preferably replayable content to farm and sink real time into. From what I've seen Gauntlet looks good but it's just a dungeon crawler with puzzles and no real depth or RPG mechanics?
 
Knock The Secret World back to using DX9 in the settings. Makes very little difference to the visuals, and you'll find it suddenly smooth as glass. It's a modified version of the Conan engine, which had the same problem.
 
path of exile - free to play. A lot of fun always updating it good in either single player or co op.

Grim dawn - as above but not free to play

Torchlight 2 - great game and some good mods for it make it even better.

Marvel heroes 2016- also free to play really good game you have to pay to unlock certain heros and thing s though

Definitely divinity:OS.

It's a nice, slow paced, chatting to your mate and giggling about stupid stuff kind of RPG. (like: "ok, that guys frozen, blind, stunned, poisoned and on fire. I'm going to see if I can make his day any more miserable". "heh, he was just sat there having a fag a minute ago, definitely not a good day" sort of stuff or just buffing the poop out of one of the characters and seeing how many enemies they can one shot).
It's got craploads of depth or you can _mostly_ just rapid fire click through the conversations (I don't mind, mate cba, he's there for the fun in combat) the crafting system is suitably mind-boggling if you enjoy that and there's definitely some combat that is... relatively tricky.

That's on the to-do list, but it's not what we're looking for.

Think literally Kingdoms of Amalur: Online kind of thing.
