Spec me: left-handed gaming mouse

I've been trying out CS:GO recently and though I only have limited time to play, I've been enjoying it and trying to sort out my mouse sens to improve my aim. Feeling I'd like a newer mouse than my old 2004 version Diamondback, but as always am limited by the handedness of available options.

I'm strictly a left-handed mouse user, with primary and secondary buttons switched so I'm limited either to specialist left-handed mice (of which there seem to be vanishingly few) or ambidextrous ones (of which there are rather more).

I've been considering the Razer Deathadder left-handed mouse and the Zowie FK1, but can't make a decision about either.

I've heard the FK1 has very stiff buttons, button lag and also that there have been some issues with switches and recalls recently meaning I'd never be completely confident about which model I'd be getting from any given retailer. So a few issues there even though it gets great comments regarding its sensor and general accuracy. Don't like the idea of either button lag or stiff buttons.

The Deathadder has the benefit of being left-hand designed and I've never used a mouse actually designed to fit my left hand before so that is attractive. However, it seems only the 2010 model is available in left-handed format, which has obviously been superseded - does that mean I'd be making do with an older and less than optimal sensor? Have also heard people criticizing the build quality.

Are there any views from the forum that could sway me, or any other options I should be considering?

I am left handed and have always gone for ambidextrous mice. Numerous old MS mice, then a Steelseries XAI followed by a Steelseries Sensei, which was actually an RMA replacement for the XAI.

Both very nice mice to use, unfortunately longevity seems to be an issue as the Sensei packed up last night so I am moving away from Steelseries now.

Just bought this - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/xtrfy-xg-m2-gaming-mouse-black-gs-015-xt.html

Parts are all decent, I'll let you know what I think when I get it if you want.

Yeah, be interested to hear, cheers.

Edit: just checked - that looks like it's a right-hand only mouse? Is that not right? Is there a left-handed version I'm not seeing?

+1 To all that.

I'm left-handed with a pen and playing FPS with keyboard and mouse, but I have an ambidextruous mouse since I use both hands depending on what I'm doing. I.e. I am ambidextruous using mice.

I hate my Steelseries Sensei RAW, the braided cable broke easy, the pads on the bottom came off within the first few days, software not as good as Logitech's and now roughly 2 years after buying it, it's starting to die.

My favourite mouse of all time I've personally used is the Logitech G300. Unfortunately when my first one died, nobody was seling it anymore.

BUT! There's now a new revived version called the Logitech G300S. Sure it costs much less than the Sensei and will likely die within 2 year like the same. But I'm willing to put up with that.

Alternatively, on the higher end you could buy the Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum. It costs over £100 and I have no idea how well it lasts. If I'm paying that much for a mouse I expect it to last a good many years. But it's fuly customisable to be ambidextruous, left handed or right handed. Similarly there's the Razer Ouroboros, a pricey ambidextruous mouse with some customisability. I might have bought one of these 2, but good memories of the G300 made me buy the G300S.

Unfortunately, OCUK don't stock any of these suggestions. You'll have to go elsewhere like a certain rainforest.

Anyway, this is good. Liking it as a lefty. Exactly same shape as the Steelseries Sensei / Zowie mice.

And it is currently £35. Bit of a no-brainer.

Right-handed but love my Logitech G900. Ambidextrous so should be great for you too. Also has side buttons on both sides for lefties or you can use both sides.

To clarify the zowie issue, it was when they switched from huano switches to omrons. The huanos are a bit stiff compared to omrons, though I've never heard of them lagging. Anyway something went horribly wrong with the omron mice and they went back to using huanos. I got used to the stiffness after a couple of days and now I misclick on my old mouse.

The Xtrfy Xg M2 isn't truly ambidextrous as there aren't thumb buttons on both sides.

:(

Yeah, the lefty deathadder! I was kind of leaning towards this.

How is it in your opinion in games? A good fps/twitch mouse?

All I ever play is FPS

Couldn't go back to a normal mouse after using the deathadder.

Been using it for 2 years now, full customisation, macros etc makes a nice touch. Sensitivity is crazy high you you wish it.

Perfect for a lefty. ;)

This is very true, but not an issue for me as I never use them. It's actually a good thing for me that they are only on one side, unlike the Sensei, as there are two less buttons less to accidentally press. :D

it is a lovely mouse for the money though.

I have both a lefty Naga and a lefty DeathAdder. DA feels much smoother so I prefer it in shooter games. Naga of course great for games with many things to bind. :)

Just an update to say thanks to those who offered advice and input. Ended up getting a left-handed Deathadder. At first I was disappointed. Not in the performance or quality of the mouse, just because I couldn't find a way of gripping it comfortably and I was getting cramp and/or fatigue very quickly. I really thought I was going to need to send it back during the first couple of days.

It's taken me four days now but I'm really getting to like this mouse more and more. Now I can grip it properly (after 20-odd years of only using ambidextrous mice!) it's a great piece of kit. Broke my own record for deathless kills using a pistol on CS:GO last night with it. Cheers all.
