A certain Pub chain is getting thousands of beer mats printed, telling their customers to vote leave in the upcoming Brexit referendum.

Staff are being told these Beer mats must be put out. It's mandatory.

Doesn't feel right that staff with different opinions are being forced to push one side of a message :S Thoughts?

They're not pushing views on the employees though. It's advertising doesn't mean the staff have to support it.

As far as I'm aware unless the company is threatening to fire employees for not voting out then theres nothing wrong with what they're doing.

I believe stunts like this have to be declared if the scale is large enough in a monetary sense (though i may be mistaken) but it is hardly pushing your view on people.

All it is doing is alienating some customers, getting nods of agreements from others and eye rolling from the neutral ones that are sick of the debate.

Seems a bit of a crazy way to press your views, as the owner of the pub chain.

Take adverts out, donate, etc... fair enough, they'll only cost you once-off. Pulling stunts like that will lose you customers, even if it's only a small %age.

My employers CEO and my GF's employers CEO (both large multinationals with European bases in the UK) have sent out emails to all staff, gently worded to remind everyone that we are where we are because of the EU. So vote in.

When a company has decided to take a position on such a prominent position as this, what makes you think you have a right to veto their decision?

The company does not have a vote in the referendum. You do. You do not have a vote on what public positions or publicity campaigns the company decides on. They do.

I don't see any issue with the owner of a Company giving his/her opinion to employees and giving some facts or reasons for voting yes/no.

Find it strange that it's now a requirement from Head Office that one of these Beer mats has to be placed on every single table.

What if you don't agree with the opinion? :D

Don't see an issue with it, I am sure the post women and men that post them leaflets through every single door might have a different opinion also.

Well, what do you think will happen if you are asked to serve pints with coasters yet refuse to use said coasters?

It is work, you are there to do what they ask you. You can always walk out if you want to deal with the consequences of walking out.

Public limited company

lol i'm not bothered. Misses on the other hand ;)

I used to get some rather odd requests from head office when in the nightclubs.

"We now require all toilet rolls to be placed in a uniform direction"
"You want me to do what? And this helps us how?"
