Now in my later years I have discovered I do like a Western film, don't know why, probably the kid on me hankering for cap guns and milky bars.

Off the top of my head and in no particular order films I have seen are:

1. High Noon
2. Stagecoach
3. True Grit (Both Vesrions)
4. 3:10 to Yuma (Both Versions)
5. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
6. A Fistful of Dollars
7. For A Few Dollars More
8. Django
9. Django Unchained
10. The Searchers
11. The Wild Bunch
12. Red River
13. Rio Bravo
14. My Darling Clementine
15. Once Upon a Time in the West
16. Unforgiven
17. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
18. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
19. McCabe & Mrs Miller
20. Dances With Wolves
21. The Hateful Eight
22. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
23. Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (Original cut & 1988 cut)
24. Tombstone
25. Pale Rider
26. The Outlaw Josey Wales
27. The Magnificent Seven
28. Young Guns 1 & 2

What important or even less important but still entertaining films of the genre am I missing?

Try "Yurusarezaru Mono". It's a Japanese remake of Unforgiven, starring Ken Watanabe. It's pretty good, albeit not quite up there with the original.

It's on Amazon Prime

And if you fancy a drama series, try Hell on Wheels

All of Deadwood watched and fully up to date with HoW to the end of the first half of season 5, love them both. :)

I absolutely love a Western!

Check out High Plains Drifter, classic Clint.

Forgot that one, haven't seen it in years and now added to my watch list!

Silverado
Shane

er....

Blazing Saddles!

Good shout, thanks.

Back to the future part 3:D

More classic Clint Eastwood ;) :p

The professionals

superb film, beautifully shot and with a great Cast..its setting is interesting as well as its early 20th century setting..so semi modern firearms.

and Shalako, a curiosity as its a shaun connery western, but it does have Brigitte bardot looking incredibly beautiful

for something a bit more light hearted I am a big fan of Cat Ballou and the Hallelujah Trail

A few more:

The Missouri Breaks
A Man Called Horse
Heaven’s Gate
Destry Rides Again
Hombre

A mini series not to miss:

Lonesome Dove

oh and Major Dundee! another one of my favourites!

and the War Wagon

and the undefeated (similar to major dundee...union soldiers meet confederates after the civil war.)

How the West was won.

Consider any western starring Audie Murphy, John Wayne and Randolph Scott. For me the westerns from the 50's were the best.

Don't discount Tv shows such as The High Chapparal, The Virginian, Alias Smith & Jones, The Bonanza and Gunsmoke, to name a few.

Bone Tomahawk. Awesome, but not for the squeamish.

The Homesman. More reserved, drama, but a good film.

The Proposition. Aussie western style. Really good.

The Quick And The Dead. A bit of a throwaway, but lots of fun watching Gene Hackman chew the heck out of every scene he's in.

The Long Riders. Great 1980 film - another Jesse James story.
