I've always been a fan of his music, and there's no doubt he's certainly had a turbulent life. I also have to admit when I saw him in concert two years ago in Glasgow it was the biggest disappointment ever. You could clearly see his backing singers carrying him through the high notes and it was clear he no longer had the magic he'd displayed throughout the early days of his career. I'm still glad I had the chance to see him though and I'm hoping he makes a speedy recovery.
 
He's in good condition. It was severe dehydration. He's one of my favourites as well. One of the best rock voices ever. Sad the way he seems a figure of fun to many, when he is an immense talent. I'll always remember Jim Steinmans description of him, "It's like plugging Pavarotti into a Marshall amp and turning it up to eleven"

I saw him quite a while back at Wembley arena and he was very good, but there's no denying it, he is a shadow of his former self now when it comes to performing. His voice has gone and he uses backup tapes now as well to carry him along.

His style is too much for a 68 year old man who has never been the fittest of individuals, and has a heart condition. Too much adrenaline and touring with the intensity he does is just suicide. People have their music and their memories. They will enjoy them far more if he is alive and well. He should just hang the mic up for the last time and put his feet up, and then be whisked straight into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Maybe a bit of acting work. I dont think he's that bad an actor actually.
 
I agree on the actor point :)

I saw him at either end of a world tour some years ago. He was amazing and just as I'd wanted to see on the first showing, on the second his voice had gone and he looked like a caricature of himself. Time even catches up with Rock Gods.
 
I was reading about his collapse earlier and it gave me one of those moments of "oh no", as he did have problems before from memory.

I've never had the luck to see him live, but he is one of the very few singers/performers whose work I have enjoyed continuously since I was young.

He's also quite a good actor from what I've seen.
 
I'm shocked Bat out of Hell was before I was born. I thought it was 86... I never got into Meat Loaf until 2 in 93?

Thats what got me into him. I was 12 and saw I'd do anything for love TV. It was a masterpiece, I was entranced. I remember everyone trying to work out what it was he wouldn't do lol.

My dad then gave me his tape of Bat 1 and I've just been an insane fan ever since. Never heard a rock voice like it.

As for acting, I loved his turn as Bob in Fight Club. Felt genuinely sad when Bob died.

For some reason Bat out of Hell 2 has fell into the same sequence as Terminator 2 before Terminator for me. When I bought and took a while with Bat out of Hell I find it edges out over 2. I really like the last track with the female singer. Meat Loaf seems to have really nice songs with female singers. Something very catchy.
 
I feared the worse when I heard on the radio. Thankfully its nothing major. Absolutely love the guy and his music. I don't think I could handle both him and Bowie going

I always thought that seeing snippets of him back in 93. He was always so insanely hyped. Almost like a volcano ready to errupt.

Though I haven't followed Meat Loaf since the mid 90s. Has he ever tried a new mellow style of singing?
 
After he made the first album he did a tour here in England and his voice was bloody awful, I seriously wanted a refund.
He then spent months & months in treatment trying to get his voice back (even drinking his own pee) but he wasn't ready for the second album so Jim Steinman sang on it instead which was Bad For Good.
His voice has always been up & down.
 
I saw him at Knebworth in '85 and he was awful, his leg was in plaster so he couldn't run around too much but he was still constantly out of breath. It was a real disappointment because the original Bat out of Hell album is one of my favourites but at least the rest of the line up was amazing (Deep Purple, Scorpions, UFO, Mountain, Blackfoot and Mama's Boys).
