Hey,i'm just trying to gauge if its worth a haggle with virgin media on my broadband deal,I only have broadband (cable) and pay £27.75 for 50meg (soon to be 70meg in July)

Can i ask what you pay for your broadband only please.

I was on 50 for standard price, after my contract had ended i upgraded to 100 (that got upgraded to 150) for 23.5 a month

Currently paying £35.75 for vivid 200 with no phone line.

From what a can gather there is no rhyme or reason how customer discounts (on the standard price) are calculated, just depends how lucky you are on the day.

I have been a customer of virgin since 1998. So maybe that is why I get such a great deal :)

Back then it was not virgin, it was blueyonder/telewest.

Just be aware that if they try to offer you anything that changes your package in any way, in your case add something on, then you will no longer be eligible for the upgrade to 70mb. So if you want to keep broadband only and stay eligible for the speed boost don't let them talk you into BB+phone or BB+TV even if it works out cheaper than you currently pay.

£32 - 200mbit.

I did suffer with over subscription in my area, so I was getting it for free for that time. kept threatening to leave, which got me the discounted price above

My discounts have recently expired so now paying £50 for 200mb broadband & phone. Actually worked out £2 per month cheaper to take the phone package even though we don't use it.

Need to call them up soon to see what they can offer me.

I have to smile at the many times people don't answer the explicit question that was asked ;) He said BROADBAND ONLY people.:p

I was paying £19.75 for 200Mb broadband only. I added the Homeworks+ which bumped it up by £14 so now it's £34.75 for 300Mb only.
