BBC Top Gear - Series 23 discussion thread

The whole thing is hopeless tbh. The whole point of the old road trips and challenges was the rapport and chemistry between the three of them. There's absolutely none of that with this bunch of misfits.

Definitely. Lose Evans, Sabine and Jordan. Bring up Chris Harris and someone else. This is the first time I've seen Harris and I like his style. Plus he doesn't shout for no reason.

A cheap car road trip/race, my favourite formula in old Top Gear. You get to see the bond/hatred of the cars form, you learn about their character, the bits that don't work etc. So what did we get from this episode, what did we find out? "I like ze wheels, 20 inches ja!" Seriously? They might as well have said "We rented these three identical Vauxhall Astras from Hertz to drive to Venice, Eddie's taken the train."

Exactly. No banter, mickey taking etc.

I didn't think I'd be saying this but Harris is wasted here. It isn't a proper car show and it is no longer an entertainment show. Fifth Gear should snap him up.

The best part of this show was the Vulcan with CH. maybe Top Gear should've went the old route and stuck with the factual car stuff that CH/RR do? They just aren't going to compete with clarkson Hammond and may doing the clarkson Hammond and may stuff. Mainly because the chemistry isn't there. I can picture JC, RH and JM actually going out and doing things off screen together but I can't see the new guys doing the same... It speaks volumes that RH and JM went with Clarkson in the first place.

I quite enjoyed the episode but they are trying to cram too much in. When Clarkson and co did a challenge it took up the whole episode apart from siarpc. With adding in another 2 films there's not enough time to properly get into the challenge.
