Hi All

As well as 3 months away from having our first bundle of joy, were having a our kitchen extended and a new one installed.

Just want your thoughts on where we can buy our appliances from - looking for a Range Cooker + Hood, American Fridge/Freezer, Dishwasher and Washing Machine - Looked at places like AO.com, ApplianceDirect and Currys so far. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. Budget overall is £2k

Also flooring for the kitchen and possibly the living room - Looking at Wooden Laminate Flooring and Engineered Wood...looking for AC5 for hard wearing and a light grey/grey colour as weve purchased the Tiverton Slate kitchen from Wickes with White Quartz Worktop.
Had a few samples through but the nicest ones had 8mm thickness which i believes isnt too hard wearing.

Thanks in advance for your advice

Thanks...had a look on JL, were looking for a light grey colour and none were suitable.

Karndean is vinyl isnt it? I think our preference is Engineered Wooden Flooring or Wooden Laminate flooring tbh.

Thanks for the suggestions. AO did look good, great layout and easy to use website.

Just spent £2.5k on Ao.com. £85 cashback via topcashback and another £80 from Ao.com.

Cheapest prices by a good margin on most of the stuff, delivered on time.

Also try appliance city website - got a couple of things from them. efficent, friendly staff when I phoned to enquire about a couple of products. fast delivery as well

Flooring - just about to finalise this - either Kardean or Cavalio

Good to hear, ive not used the cashback websites for a while, so il have to take a look.

Out of interest did you look at reviews etc for all the products, somewhere like Which?

I will take alook thanks.

That flooring is vinyl then rather than a wooden laminate?

I have used various online companies AO, Boots Electricals and John Lewis just shop around and get the cheapest you can for the model you want definitely look into cash back as pretty much all the big online places offer it and it's free money at the end of the day. Boots Electricals also do advantage points if your other half is into such things, I admire anyone who can be bothered traipsing round loads of shops looking for a bargain I certainly can't!

What sort of price per square metre are you paying for Karndean? My local flooring shop quoted me £65 per m2. Seemed like a lot of money to me.

holy cow that's pricey!! Depends on the model you go for right enough.

Fitter that I'm using stock them all but suggested sticking to the "knight" range, it's good quality and decent price. He told me to stay away from the "da vinci" and "art select" range as they are ridiculously expensive.

I need around 20m2.

check ao.com - TONS of reviews on the products. I basically went with the best reviewed washing machine (BEKO) and similar with built in oven (hotpoint)

Thanks all...thinking we may look into vinyl flooring as well now. We just like the professional and homely look of the wooden laminate.

Im also looking into Taps and Tiles now as well...things keep mounting up haha

Although i did also look at the Boots Appliance website, my fiancee was very happy when i said we could get nearly £100 of free points haha.

AO.com for appliances. You get £20 cashback directly from them for each additional item you buy past the first so it's worth ordering everything at once.

We actually got our hood from Ikea as I don't like the boring chimney design and they were the only place that did something a bit different: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10304609/

Good shout, thats £80 cashback, is this through topcashback or the website? I did see one website state that you can ring up regarding multi-buys for a discount.

Ive just signed up for Which also, to see the reviews for each product.

I just had a 40SQM floor laid (Karndean Van Gogh), £2400, so £60psqm. But that included screeding, DPM, final screed and supply\fit of the vinyl.
