OcUK Theme - have your say!

I like t as it is, simple, clean. But I do use the black theme via Stylish thanks to Skyfall. :)

An update to the software would be nice, The biggest thing I miss from other forums is if you don't read a thread on that visit then next time you visit it takes you to the first unread post not the first unread since your last visit.

Hope that makes sense, I don't know the technical term for it! :)

I would approve of a rep/like system. It would be nice given how many people are so selfless with their help here.

Otherwise the only change I'd make is a decent update to the latest version of vB.

As long as the mobile theme can be turned off I'm happy with whatever(hate mobile sites on the whole).

Not overly keen on the likes/upvotes system for the same reason as xenon. Even if it was "outlawed" for begging you'd only get people upvoting mates posts with the occasional useful one.

Maybe it's just me but I do keep coming back here because of its simplicity. One of the last good forums in my honest opinion.

Noted and thanks - that's what we're after.

We're not after change for the sake of change, but if as and when we do a forum, upgrade it would be the ideal time to make changes.

Any chance of loosening the swear filter and enabling the PM system?

We can loosen it, but suspensions will go up ;)

I've never been against the PM system, but for the fear of people sending abuse to one another - unless we grant moderators the ability to read PMs, but then that negates the private nature of them.

Leave everything as it is, stop the forum going down for 5 minutes at midnight. This ruins my day..

Well that's out of my hands as I believe that is when the back up takes place (but it should be 4am not midnight!). Besides you should be in bed! Or working if you're at work... (oh the hypocrisy! :D)

I like the idea of a like system / rep system - Preferably the like one... rather than rep... Or both could be good, but yeah. I'd go for the like one first.

I like everything else you've said...Shame there's no movement on the avatars, but I guess I could have a image in signature.

What theme would you like instead of the gangster theme? At least that could be a change?

Sigs are there to give you your sense of identity, I personally don't care for avatars and have mine disabled anyway.

Also for 'paging' to be a functional feature. Quite often people say for example 'paging Burnsy' for a police/crime related thread, or 'paging Fox' for a thread where someone wants to buy a BMW. It would be nice if this caused them to get a notification or email pointing them to the thread.

I like this idea :) Notifications in general if someone quotes you would be nice.

Would be good to have a 'work-safe' theme. The blue is a bit of a giveaway. And I say that as someone who doesn't really need it.

I don't mind up/down-voting on posts. I would have been against it, but when it was added to another forum I used to use, I actually found it to be a positive change. Cuts down on the '+1' and otherwise contentless 'agreed' posts, for one thing. Also interesting as an opinion barometer.

Change the Gangsters to different characters from My Little Pony depending on level.

If it exists... as it may not something to auto resize images that are over the 720p size or whatever the limit is.

Like you I dislike mobile centric web sites, they seem to do a good job of hiding the content I want to see.

The first thing is something that is beyond the scope of this really. We separately are looking at the current rules, FAQ, etc with a view to making these clearer and more consistent for everyone.

A few people have said the blue is a give-away, can someone explain it to me? I use a lot of disparate systems at work, and the blue doesn't stand out - but I do use an ad-block to remove the ads and the OcUK logo at work.

I agree the decrease in +1 / agreed posts would IMO enhance the content of the forums.

Yup. It's one of the reasons I started favouring this forum over the Hexus one, having started using both at a similar time. Their mobile version is annoying (mostly because it cuts out the 'new posts' search, which is what I mainly use)

Update to XenForo, get rid of a bug laden, insecure vBulletin.

Many advantages of doing so.

Likes system
Can keep the same theme (near enough)
Non-animated avatars
Much better search system
Mobile friendly out the box
Uses innodb, so no downtime at night during backups
Highly customizable.
Much more secure (bcrypt password encryption over vbulletins lol md5)

It is one of the platforms that has been suggested as I believe the trust system can be ported across fairly easily - this is a critical aspect of any change.

I like the idea of a like system. It shows the best posts in any particular thread. I wouldn't have negative rep though.

I also kinda like the MoH label and a move away from the gangster theme wouldn't mean that it necessarily has to change.
