May not be very chip though. Look at other manufacturers. You saying all the gamin x cards are binned extreme chips? There is nothign wrong with the overclocks they are achieving.
And like I have said, just cause a chip passes the stock speed of a glh okay, doesnt mean its got the best maximum overclock. It still might be a lemon and top out at 2050.
But yes, for £10 you may as well get the GLH. If the gap was bigger like £40, maybe not.
MSI also have multiple models using the same PCB, yes, so entirely possible they are also binning the boards and then deciding whether to put the armor or gamingX heatsink and charging accordingly.
It seems unlikely that if a card is tested and won't hit 1887 on the stock fan profile, also fails at 1847 and needs to be shipped out at 1733, that it would then go on to be a better overclocker than a card that you know passes at 1887.
For people not looking at bios modding or potentially water cooling then it doesn't make a difference probably no, but it seems a shame to buy a dual bios card and not use it.
I've asked in CS what Gainwards position is on using dual bios. I know they try to refuse warranty if the stickers are removed (not legally enforceable in the UK anyway), but EVGA for example don't care whats on the 2nd bios as long as bios 1 is still stock.
