Not specifically, but the membership has done for years, as well as the moderation team.

Can I just repeat and clarify again, we're not going to change for the sake of changing, we want to potentially add a little more features, perhaps change the theme (though it seems people aren't bothered about the gangster theme). The layout and style will be left as neat and as simple as possible.

We're asking for opinions, but laying down some guidelines as to what will not be considered so people know from the outset.

We want ideas and we'll take in the feedback in regards to any suggestions, there are already a lot of things that have been mentioned in this thread.
It's interesting for us to see how they compare to some of our own ideas and views.

I think the forums are doing good - yes there are bits that still need to improve but overall I think it's okay no? But this is not for this thread, feel free to contact me if you want to chat about it or start a thread in the FCD.

1. 'like system' - no user reps but likes on posts in a thread, so they can be ranked so you can see the most informative or funny posts if you want.
2. More embedded content - Twitter posts, gifv / gfycat etc
3. Allow higher res images and / or auto resizing

Ok, I'm out of tounge in cheek mode now. The forums are imo an example of a clean-looking, easy to browse message board. The colour scheme works so well as it easy on the eyes. The lack of distracting emoticons also helps massively with this. You may call it "archaic" but I think the reason it hasn't changed is because it was done right from the start. Adding Like's and rep systems will only hugely detract and distract from what makes this forum as successful and as clean a reading experience as it is.

Well, there also certainly would be no harm adding some additional themes (Steel grey would be cool). Add-ons like image re-sizing etc are also what would make a difference.

Regardless of content, the gangster title and avatar IS an instantly recognisable element of the forum, part of its character, and by removing it and replacing it with generic look and titles you would essentially be killing part of the soul of the forum. IMO it would need to be replaced with something equally as cool (worthy of a separate thread in itself), or not touched.

We want to keep the clean look. So don't worry that won't change.

I have them switched off so it isn't for me

As I mentioned previously the "look & feel" will largely remain the same, but we wanted to give people a chance to have their say.

I wouldn't, imagine what would happen if a tool like that ended up in the hands of someone like me.

Needs a limit on how many posts you can delete in a set timeframe at least. Or something.

Ditch the mafia theme, the mafia are scum end of, good films or not, I don't see the relevance to a "family friendy forum" it's a throwback to the past and needs changing.

In its place, why not use PC components? - you do sell them after all! - little images of a CPU, PSU, GFX card etc etc

Man of honour should stay, perhaps add woman of honour too in this politically correct world we live in?

An option to select the black theme if we prefer.

And 4T5 deserves recognition, RIP.

We will, we're not rushing into this, we've had a think about it, but clearly we are small percentage of the forums, you guys are the ones that use it the most. WE might have missed something.

Hey if the gangster theme and everything is great, we'll leave it. No intention on changing for the sake of change, but when we do update/change the software we just want to make sure we add as much value to the work as possible.

How can people be so against making the forum more mobile friendly?

On my iPhone 6 I have to constantly zoom in and out to tap links, page numbers etc, this is not how the Internet should be in 2016!

I'm sure they have a fairly large user base using mobile devices, it's time the forum worked properly on them.
