OcUK Theme - have your say!

Yeah I think losing the smileys will be too much.

Dont really like these new ones if I'm honest they mostly look the same.

Besides how else am I going to know when Christmas is near?

Im confused by the OP since it seems the stuff not to be discussed is being discussed - if thats the case any chance of relaxing the rule on signature images so that the filesize is slightly bigger (Im thinking like 50kB) - 20kB is a pain if you are trying to create something like a transparent png

Considering its not hosted on OcUKs site and people dont use 56k modem its mad that its never been allowed to be reviewed...

Would say more but as I said, Im not quite sure what the engagement attempt is. If its just the avatars, leave be - way too late at changing that unless theres real thought behind the options.

EDIT: Whoever does the Stylish theme, please just listen to them if you consider doing changes to the forum aesthetics.
EDIT2: If theres a way to mark stupid posts rather than some thank/rep system Id like this option - it would make people think twice about posting rubbish.

I would like more avatars available such that there is less people using the same avatar. For example this page of this thread has 5 different people using wavey hand old dude which makes it hard to track who says what.

Dunno if it possible but auto sizing images would be neat. I think other forums can do it.

Finally a dedicated mobile site as it is fairly hard to read stuff on a small screen without constantly zooming in and out.

I would suggest a change in theme, keep the black and white avatar but change them to deceased movie icons, it was suggested with Alan Rickmans death. and introduce female counterpart to each rank.
The Ranks and titles I like, possibly reducing certain rank steps/introducing more intermediate levels.
Rep systems as many have said come with pros and cons. but it could always be trialed for a 3 month period and assessed on abuse.
Mobile optional view would be nice but should look similar simply resized.

I'm sure some of these have been previously mentioned but 9 pages in im a bit lazy to read all the posts.

^
A perfect example of where to use a like button - deceased movie star avatars would give a lot more room for expansion.

Oh and move to XenForo - they did develop this software after all, so if anybody can move this leviathan they can.

the only thing I would like is it being a bit more mobile friendly. I like the simple forum without a million addons making it look like a mess.

You can talk about them, the chances of them being considered are more or less likely than others ;)

Not really a change to the theme but more of a rule change. Can we either fully block or allow competitive company names in the forums. I mean seeing barcode, the rain forest, scam in posts where its not even for a product that ocuk sell is annoying.

Originally no competitors whatsoever were allowed, if you'd mentioned Scan or Amazon, you'd probably have been suspended straight away. I think the rules are actually more sensible now and have been in a relaxed state for a long time.

You can mention a company name if OcUK don't sell the item you're discussing. So there's no reason to say 'rain forest' when you're talking about [for example] shaving products.

I think it's better like this, it's not as strict and much more sensible.

New themes available without having to use something like stylish.
PM system
Notifications
Don't care about the avatars tbh
Ability to delete posts and edit titles!
Auto image resizing

That said, still keep it simple so that it loads fast!

1. Update software or change to Xenforo - so you get notifications for when you've been quoted/liked/replied to.
2. PM would be nice, but we have the trust system so not really needed.
3. Choice of Light and Dark theme as standard.
3. Mobile friendly (most new software is)
4. Image resizer and a auto YouTube embedder. :)
5. Gravatar?

There's more, but it's all dependant on server resources. With the amount of users on this forum, you don't want to slow it down too much!

Also, the SIMPLER THE BETTER tbh.

I would like:

Have the option to like a post, rate it as funny etc like you can on AVF.

Ditch the gangster theme as it's a pretty ridiculous thing to have on a computer forum.

Remove all info from under a persons avatar. Someones join date and post count is irrelevant nonsense unless they're one of those 'special' people who think it means anything. Anyone who feels the need to know this can click on their profile info.

Personally I'm all for choosing our own avatar. It's useful for skim reading past the useless types who post the same drivel over and over.

Staff online is a good feature.

Notification of someone replying to a post or quoting you is an excellent feature strangely missing from here.

I'd also merge a lot of the sub-forums just for ease of use. There are far too many, with some barely getting more then a few posts a week.
