The EU Referendum: Polling Day

Did I read earlier that there are no exit polls? Is thst usual for a Referendum?

Its because exit polls are normally analysed based on previous results to predict the expected current result. As there are no previous results, they have nothing to base it on and so they're not being conducted (At least by the normal media crowd).

So my mother can ask an exit pollster how people have actually voted and was told (Remain firmly in the lead apparently where I live) but a computer forum can't host a poll on a forum??????

This beautiful Brexiteer was apparently refused entry to the polling station!

I can't wait until this is all over, it's been an absolute drain to watch the people of this country tear themselves apart over this. Some of the bickering, insults and simmering anger has been so frustrating to watch. I'll be voting remain because of many reasons but mainly because on a broad level I think humanity should be working together, not segregating further.

I drive a lot and I've seen VOTE LEAVE plastered all over the streets and very little people claiming they are voting remain. All the passion and vitriol I have experienced has come from the Leave side of the fence. Pretty much any post about it on social media has been dominated by people spewing hatred. My own brother-in-law got so angry when he brought up the subject with me and my wife he had to walk out of the room. So much hatred and focus on immigration and people have so little understanding of just how many facets of our daily life that the EU has had input into and in most cases (not all) has improved.

I understand we need improved immigration controls, but I don't want them at the sacrifice of the benefits of the rest of the EU membership, it would be cutting off our borders to spite our national face.

Whatever the outcome is, and I hope we continue in the EU personally, I hope this doesn't cause violence or riots. I'll just be happy to see the pure vitriol subside after today hopefully.

Welcome to Scotland during IndyRef and after.
