I'm disappointed in myself for not taking 10/1 from Paddy Power!!

Thought it would be very close and for Remain to pip it.

What a great day for democracy. Morning Europe, Juncker, have some of that!!

Bloody gasping for a good english cup of tea so leaving the discussion for now as it's mostly all recapping the nights events unless GO goes.

How long do you guys think it will take to actually leave?

If/when Scotland reapply for the EU will they have to take the euro?

to finish the process completely? About a decade. Most of it will be done in 2-3 years though

Yes, if Scotland leaves and re-applies, they'll have to take the Euro, and they'll also have to have austerity imposed on them as they'll have one of the biggest deficits in the EU. Based on that, the fact the oil price won't rise much above $50 for years at least, and the fact that leaving is so darn complicated, I don't think they'll actually leave the UK.

It is indeed a great day, although 48% may disagree :D

The triumphalism and bitterness of some in this thread is disappointing. Can I urge everyone to take a deep breath, calm down and think before we post. What happened yesterday is democracy at its finest, people can have differing visions and views but it needn't be about division.

Unfortunately, no matter what the outcome was, both sides of this have failed the people and have sown discord and division all over the place.

Not initially. The Wing plant is very good at what it does, but I can imagine with Airbus being part owned by Germany and France and UK not owning a share any longer, long term they may want to bring that work back to the continent if they have a say in it. But just a guess on my part.

Rolls Royce who provide most of the engines on the A380's / A330CEO NEO and A350 should still be okay producing there engines down in Derby as that is not quiet easy to replicate. But then again they do have a new testing facility planned for Derby, but was on hold last I recall to see how Britexit panned out.

Not a hope in hell of them moving the wing manufacture abroad.

1 the guys int he factories on the continent are not trained nor qualified to work at anything like the pace required (the euro factories dont have self certification for work, the work has to be second party inspected, we used to do that here but higher production rates meant rhey had to move to first party stamping).

Secondly moving/making a new jig takes years.

If they started doing that we'd be on strike and rhe company out of businessbefore they could even get one up and running producing 1 wing a month versus the 11 a month we knock out on 320 alone.

Well, he's kinda got a point seeing as EVERY Scottish borough voted remain.

It's now perfectly clear that England and Scotland are on different paths.

But they have been searching for any excuse to hold a second referendum.

Surely this all needs to be worked out first. It wasn't sorted last time with Scotland assuming it would have automatic EU membership if it voted independence from the Britain, despite very different noises coming out of Europe.

The Scots may get a second vote on the back of this, but will they be able to take the UK's membership or will they need to apply again? If the latter then it would be a very small Scotland for many years before it was back in Europe.

I do believe we need decisive leadership now. Not hang around and hope for the best.

If you thought Cameron was bad just wait until Boris, Gove and May get their unscrupulous fingers into the pie even more.

Are you concerned about the future of the projects? You work on Crossrail 2 right?

No I don't work for those projects, I'm just curious as to what is going to happen to them if they don't get the European funding they need.

I am also concerned about the environmental policies which were given by the EU. I'm not an eco warrior but at the same time the sustainability agenda was an important one, and I'm worried some policies will be ignored and upturned

Eitherway the UK has a LOT of work ahead of her to stabilise and establish herself again. Let's just hope we don't fold to the USA or expose ourselves to danger.

It might be the best thing to have ever happened, but I am lack the confidence in our government to do the right things

That bloody weasel Cameron has quit too, even though he said he wouldn't.

I completely understand there will be instability but I just don't like going into things blind, I don't think there was enough understanding of both sides of the argument in my opinion.

Anyway, chin up and let's see what happens. It may be dark times or it may be cotton candy fields...
