What have you done to your car today?

Quite a lot of good pubs and shops there. Go to The Stable and get a few cider tasters and a stone baked pizza, then move along a little to the ice cream parlour and get some cookie dough... The park is quite nice for taking a walk through as well. I have no doubt you'll have your camera with you as well... You'll survive. Oh and go to The Hobbit and tell the girl with blue hair that Tom sent you, it will freak her out... :D

Booked car in at Wessex Car Trimming to have my driver side bolster stitching re-done. It's a seat out, backrest off and machine stitch job. The top part has started to un-stitch itself and I want it sorted before it gets bad.

£70+VAT, not bad for the labour work involved (the good part of a day). Gotta find something to do for a few hours while I wait around Southampton central...

Wow, good price..

The only place I've found that so far for a full refurb want a little over £700 including getting rid of stretched panels, recolouring, fixing all the stitching nd brand new bolster leather panels on the drivers side which would effectively make my seats look brand new..

I was hoping for something closer to £500..

The rest of my leather is pristine, so this is just for the stitching on the bolster mind hence the price! Ice cream, cookies, pizza and blue hair... Sold.

Wow the 2016 Windows 10 compatible version of ISTA/INPA is pretty mental to install. It's straight forward using the guide supplied, but the install and configuration of the installers take ages. I've been at it for the past hour+...

Ok, stupid question.

For this sign, Mon-Fri 8am to 5:30pm, Permit Holders Only.

Does that mean on Saturday and Sundays, (and during the evenings) you can park without a permit?

You've had it 5 minutes.

Whats wrong with it..? ;)

Ah, I'm moving soon so can't keep it. Also, most of the fun for me is in going through them from front to back, finding out what makes them tick, and restoring them. This is on the button now, and there's nothing else to do with it, so off it will go.

Did want to modify it but it'll just kill its value and appeal.

My average ownership period is still only about four months :o

Really does look like a very well turned out car Lashout, I've never owned one but the TT has always been on my list of cars I'd like to own. Nearly scratched the itch with an RS but every example I went to view was rather shabby.

Nice work

Filled in the big and small chips in on bonnet and bumper.
just spent an hour sanding back so level.
literally started to put a thin layer of lacquer on and it starts rainine heavy...

ruined what I just put on -.-

Woke up and found somebody had driven into my car (doubtless after a few bottles of wine too many last night) and not left a note.

Attacked it with a brush, shampoo and polish and turned it into this:

Starting to think I'm in the wrong job :p

Service and alignment at Abbey Motorsport this morning. Steering wheel is dead centre again, it had been ever so slightly off centre.

46K miles so far, really racking up the miles. Still love it :)

So, after spending so much time polishing my Alhambra (see car cleaning thread), I decided to have a go at fixing the intermittently working electric windows.

So, managed to unplug the door loom from the cars body, pull back the boot, and sure enough, 2 broken wires.

Have a super cheap soldering iron kicking about, and managed to find an old ISO stereo adapter for a Peugeot 309. So cut out 2 lengths of wire, and proceed to "fix" the broken wires.

Well, space was tight. Soldering wasn't neat, and one finger was well and truly burned. Ouch. Still, when I put it back and initially tested the "repair" it worked great.

BUT, I had to remove it again to re-install the boot. Which wasn't so easy. The door pillar locking ring fell off, which meant I had to strip off the trim around the fuse box to get in behind to push the connector back out. Then reinstall the ring. Then reinstall the connector, with the boot fitted.

Finally got all that done, reconnected the battery, trim all back on. And it doesn't work. D'oh.

Will try again today or tomorrow.

Fixed it today. The door pillar locking ring was loose, and so probably wasn't an actual connection in there at all.

All done now, and re-routed the satnav power cable while all the trim was off.

Old A4 estate I bought for lugging stuff to the tip and carrying dirty stuff was leaking oil from the valve cover gasket. So whipped it off and changed it last night.
2 of the spark plug holes were almost full of oil!

Just got to hacksaw off the dodgy exhaust flexi and replace it, then it should be much more socially acceptable to drive!

Glad you got it looking back to normal. Really peeves me off when people do that or anything similar. The cost to get these things sorted is one thing, but it's the principle more than anything I hate. Just the "I don't give a ****" attitude about other peoples property.

On a slightly related note, some drunken idiots decided to punch/hit my drivers side mirror last night. Heard a bang noise out side at around midnight and saw two guys walking and shouting at each other down the street, with some god awful buttered Scottish accent. Didn't take any notice at the time as I thought they had hit a near by fence with a bottle or something. Went out to my car this morning to find my mirror out of the housing with it hanging by the wires. Managed to pop it back in, but it will need to be re-glued to stop it from moving around when driving. Thankfully, there was no visual damage and the mirror controls are still working.
