Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Memory clock for 290?

R9-390 @ 1231/1675 Graphics Score: 6 481

I think the 480 is quite nice but ref. model runs too hot.
Here you can compare if you want http://extreme.pcgameshardware.de/b...2013-fire-strike-ultra-added.html#post5392048

So faster than a R9 390X?

Fottemberg who runs a reasonably well known rumour site(Italian one),and has been accurate with leaks has said AMD is giving them the final test driver for the review two days before it is meant to be released.

480 @ 1380

Graphics Score: 6377
Test1: 32.14
Test2: 24.38

4.61 3Dmarks per MHz.

290 @ 1150

Graphics Score: 5825
Test1: 29.96
Test2: 21.93

5.07 3Dmarks per MHz.

For comparison.

Did a 980 test for fun/comparison, at 1400/stock memory

Graphics Score: 6925
Test1: 36.44
Test2: 25.66

That's all assuming this Firestrike score is real. No one really knows anything until the 29th.

Done some Benchmarks using 3Dmark Firestrike on my system to compare to the leaked 480 benches.

480
Ultra - 2889 g score is 2856
Extreme - 5708

290 @1050/1300 - i7 3770k @4.2

FireStrike - 10465 g score is 12360http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8954752

FireStrike Extreme - 5196 g score is 5499 http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8955023
FireStrike Ultra - 2780 g score 2746 http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8954922

The 480 @ ultra is very close, but on Extreme they is a massive jump for the 480 @1440p

You need to remember to compare the graphics scores to compare the numbers.
As for Massive jump at 1440p hmm don't think i'd define it as massive lol.

If it is 970/980 perf the only thing that's going to save it, is price. Any more than £200 and it's going to be quite a let down considering the price of 970/980's at the minute.

Whats with all the "if its 390 performance its a fail" "if its 970-980 petformance its a fail"
It was said since december that it will be around 390/970 performance mainstream? Were you asleep all this year and just woke up?
It is the successor of the R9-380, it is a midrange card.
