Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Not read anyone with SLI 1080s saying they are feel8ng let down? Can you link those posts please. I am reading lots of valid concerns and lots of valid reasonings for this 480.

Not let down by my SLI 1080's one bit. Sure expensive, but performance wise they run fantastic.

Looking forward to the 480 to see what it offers for its price point. I'm interested in any new GPU tech.

I've been waiting for a reason to offload my crossfire 7970's for a while, not so much performance but the power usage and heat is excessive. Hoping this card will outperform them with the added benefits it would bring.

I'm not even sure what the crossfire 7970's compare to currently...?

Equal to Fury Nano/Pro.

AMD Radeon RX 480 Overclocking Tool To Be Called Radeon WattMan – Reference Models Cannot Clock Past 1.4 GHz, More 3DMark Benchmarks

Amd turned into king of the overhype lol seriously sell this ship while it is still sailing. This results make this card on par with 390/970 big meh

It probably is accurate, but superclocked 980Ti is untouchable.

Yet it does not offer all the new features, so again for some framerate total performance isn't the only important factor. Loads of reasons why not to get a 980Ti over the 1070 well for me at least. Likewise a RX480 over 970 or 980.

Just seems most of the Nvidia camp are obsessed by framerate performances. Going back to this thread for the RX480 being discussed clearly it isn't the only feature for what the general consumer is seeking and sales potential of this card might reflect that.

Now the same people responsible for whipping people into a frenzy over 1.5Ghz clocks are causing disappointment just days before release.

WCCFTech really is utter crap.

Lol, this was the same source that had the screenshot of a 1600 OC which they insisted "was absolutely real and confirmed." I wouldn't take anything from them seriously.

Yer, I am reading pretty much everyone here is interested in new GPU tech and questions will be asked. I can even see where Humbug is coming from and he does make a couple of fair points if the performance is indeed around a 970. Vega is aways away and for the enthusiast level, AMD are allowing Nvidia the top end, which from an image point of view, I don't think that is a good thing but then again, I am a Stevedore and know nothing about marketing. I can see AMD are low with R&D though, so they can't throw big at it like Nvidia can, so I can see AMD'S reasoning for going with the entry level GPU first.

Anyways, I am looking forward to it and excited for new tech as always.

lol who said people are let down by their sli 1080's..can you show me those posts gregster?

again people twisting what people say for their own pleasure.

I'm sure if you ask him nicely, CAT will teach you how to abuse [ quote ] tags.

Then you can more convincingly pretend I said something I didn't. It's all the rage around here.

For the record, I don't have a 1070, or a 1080. In fact I'm using integrated graphics since I sold my (AMD) 280X and then broke my (AMD) 7850.

Look how nV biased I am... my last two cards were AMD! Shocking!

Sorry for not fitting your narrative. That must irk you.

Holy meatballs :D RX480 is perfect for you then. It's aimed exactly at your past buying price point.

For many 1080p 60 in titles like BF1 will be all the RX480 has to do.
Some of you are so beyond the requirements of us "average gamers" and blinded by your own ignorance for who this product is really marketed towards.

They sure are bang on for the price point lets see if it does indeed manage to pull a decent performance.

aoplogies foxeye it was face that said it,my apologies,i should have quoted him properly.

doesn't change the fact it was said.

My response was probably a bit harsh then - I thought you were making it up and pretending I'd said it. Didn't realise someone actually had said that.

Moving swiftly on :)

When's the 1060 out? if that performs better then a 970 at a good price point, Amd are in the red :D

Might not be for a while, semi accurate put up a post stating that Nvidia has run into some serious production issues with TSMC. Uknown how accurate that is but stocks of 1080 and 1070 are still very low, even in places that still have some stock.
