Article from Boris in the Telegraph. Basically confirms he intends to keep free trade with EU and freedom of movement will remain. I'm thinking many will be disappointed with the freedom of movement..

Boris said:
It is said that those who voted Leave were mainly driven by anxieties about immigration. I do not believe that is so.

Oh, do **** off Boris.

It can get worse than Trump and Russia congratulating us and every market we trade with responding in disbelief?

I dare say if we backtracked despite the financial train wreck already caused it would be accepted without much drama.

Hmm. I hear you. But it was a democratic vote in a democratic country so that's what we have to abide by. Otherwise no other major referendum can ever be seen as legitimate again. You keep going back until you get the vote the, what? Media wants? The politicians want?

Nope. I think it's just as ridiculous but the vote is the vote.

If so, why is everyone in such panic mode about the economy and trade deals then?
If we leave the EEA do those EFTA deals become null and void as well?

We aren't in the EEA. We are in the EU. Norway, Iceland and Liechenstein are in the EEA. They have free market access to the EU and can also go out and get their own free trade agreements with other countries without relying on the EU. Switzerland is not in the EU or EEA but has a similar position.

Boris talks about border control and then immediately goes onto contradict himself by saying we would have to keep the free movement of people. How in any way is that maintaining control?

Because you can't do it all at once..

As Said earlier in the thread, you need to get out with basic safegaurds and some semblance of economic trading blocks to stay afloat and calm the markets.
Once that is done, THEN you can move on to sort your trade deals out with whoever.
See my post with the flexit video

He is basically saying we are joining the EEA.

no he's not said that, that would involve allowing freedom of movement which we will be pushing for concessions on - it is going to be a hybrid agreement (which I predicted months ago in Burnsey's thread)

he's not said that, read the whole article - in particular you seem to have not read or ignored this:

Yes, the Government will be able to take back democratic control of immigration policy, with a balanced and humane points-based system to suit the needs of business and industry.

LOL.. I've had to sit through about 4 pages of drivel about how delusional leavers are, how the world has ended, yada, yada yada... How it's all the leavers fault, yada, yada, yada.. How the majority must be wrong..

Like I said, cry me a river, you'll get no sympathy from me for having to endure such a hardship. Passive victimisation my arse, grow a pair ffs

now that the dust as settled what's going on? Has any plan been announced by boris and gove? Sleeping pattern has been a bit screwed up after doing a all nighter so not upto speed.

Maybe someone can correct me but doesn't the EEA require we keep an awful lot of laws that weren't made by us anyway? Including future ones?

yes, thus it is rather silly for people to claim that we're joining the EEA - we're blatantly not going to do that

The referendum is not a legally binding position that has to be adopted, it is actually only an advisory. Our democracy is that we vote in a government that votes on laws / policy. So technically they can boot this out in parliament and it is still democratic. if we then don't like it I am sure that the same excellent turnout will come for the next general election and vote a new government in right, because that is our democracy.
