EVGA GTX 1080 Hybrid or Classified?

Hi guys,

Was wondering if anybody had any idea how these may compare? I'm hoping to overclock as much as possible to try and get stable 4k 60FPS wherever possible whilst gaming.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Every card pretty much overclocks between 2000 and 2100, pick one with noise and looks in mind, clocks don't really matter.

For the ones youre suggesting: Classified will probablyu be overbuilt as the FTW already takes everything out of the 1080, the hybrid is unnecessary because Pascal isn't a warm chip...

I would suggest something "cheap" like FTW, MSI Gaming, Inno3D or even Palit - wouldn't go for those "elite" marketing cards because at least for this generation, their offer nothing more.

''pascal isn't a warm chip''

never owned a FE? :D

The additional power phases don't seem to have the impact people are looking for with these Pascal cards, and while they are slightly cooler than Maxwell, they're still temperature limited which results in throttling unless you're prepared to ramp up your fans.

I think the Hybrid will give a better overall experience, and it has the FTW PCB so it has more than enough power delivery.

No, in those past 10 years of wide availability, never once! :p

Still cooler than big Maxwell (of course) - what I meant is if before dual slot cards weren't the best to cool something like a 980Ti, now even MSI Twin Frozr (which wasn't adequate on that card) is good enough.
That's why I wouldn't bother pointing on over-engineered cards.

As above no point, get a basic card with a half decent cooler and it will be more than enough.

Basically would you want to pay someone to push a slider for you? Or do it yourself?

It does look like there's no real benefit, but you never know.

The talk of Nvidia locking voltage control seems to be true with this series.

Hoping some clever sod can get around it with a custom bios.

I'm sure some clever sod will but 99% of users just won't be interested in that extreme version of warranty breaking fiddling.

It does appear a Seahawk will clock the same as a clown edition and both will keep the temps just fine.

To avoid throttling at high boost clocks Pascal is very much temperature limited. Water is obviously the best option in this scenario as it should easily run at least 10c cooler than pretty much any aftermarket cooler on auto fan.

What temperature do they throttle at?
