Brexit thread - what happens next

I never understood the 'logic' of EU = Islam. It's deeply sad that some Morlocks think they've got the run of the country now and everyone agrees with them. Should hopefully improve as the power vacuum at the top is filled, and they are put into place. Indeed, if May emerges leader, they will fall under her hammer just as much as other forms of extremism. Though I doubt many will remain truly happy with her take on human rights and privacy in the end.

You know I think you have it the wrong way round. The Leave voters are the Eloi - ignorant, provided for, surface dwellers who don't understand the machinery that sustains their lives. The Morlocks are the industrious, skilled elite who mostly voted Remain and can walk away from this mess if they have to because unlike many others in the UK, their skills mean they'll still get work visas, et al.

Please stop all the negative posts and moans. It's a great day today. You woke up! it can only get better :)

I genuinely just cannot comprehend this sustained attitude.

Everything has become demonstrably worse economically and, in terms of what leavers voted for, nothing has actually changed.

When will we see demonstrable positives of this? Or even something that can be argued to be a demonstrable positive?

Oh actually don't worry I'll stop thinking about it lalalalalalalalala.

there aren't any but we may be more "British" right

Chancellor just stated there will be tax rises, reduced spending and the Country will be in a prolonged period of economic adjustment

thanks Leave voters ! genuinely - thanks - glad this is the Britain you wanted

Pretty worrying, our big projects at the moment are funded outside the country and they've just said they are waiting to see what happens with the export market...so who knows when anything solid will be done.
Hopefully we can ride it out with smaller jobs in the meantime if people here are still going to go ahead with minor works

Hope it works out. :)

So the markets are up upon opening. 2% on the FTSE100, 3% on the 250. What has changed? Dollar rate has eased off a bit over night.

could the government not put their hand up and say - sorry - we know we gave you the vote- and we hear you want change

but the Country literally cannot afford to leave the EU

and save us from this potential apocalypse

The problem with this is, we essentially surrender to the EU and fully commit. If we are not prepared to do that, then it would be better to suck it up now and stay on course.

deuse - that is very humbling - and of course here in the West in the general we have it "good"

but remember we are effectively putting this pain on ourselves

this is - whether you like it or not going to be completely self inflicted

If brexit leads to the cancellation of HS2 then I am all behind that one, what a waste of money. Do we get to not enter Euro vision and Euro 2020? Cool.
Andi.

Does that not highlight the utter ridiculous nature of our economy?

Nothing has changed.

Literally no, law no rule nothing has changed.

But suddenly we're all doomed, hundreds of billions of pounds was gambled in thr soace of a day or two.

Nothing really changed but noe everything is "worse"

Background to the picture > here <

If you care about such things, then I suggest you give organisations some money (or even some your own time) to help them. Of course I'm sure you already do, and do not feel the slightest about of shame using such as a means of getting one over someone on the intrawebs.

It highlights that the economy always has been and always will be a confidence game. At the very Base of it all, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

Things have changed, its the uncertainty that'll cause the damage.

The pound's value has dropped so inflation will increase

foriegn investment which we heavily rely on will likely fall. Which, considering we have a government budget deficit and a trade deficit will mean tax rises and spending cuts.

spending cuts and tax rises in turn will feadback and slow the economy further.
