Situation:

I have had my licence 8 years
I have 7 years no claims bonus
I have 1 non fault accident in the last 3 years

Currently pay £300.

I want to change address.

Call insurance company to notify them. They want an extra £900 + admin fee.

LOL on the phone and tell them I'll get back to them.

Go to gocompare.com/comparemeercats

Enter details on gocompare.com/comparemeercats

Chepest quote is £1300 + telematics box

Srsly?

Seen a few people complain of this sort of thing recently and no, it's nothing to do with brexit.

Just tried myself to see what quotes I was getting and it's still sub 300 for me, so it's nothing thats happening across the board

Have you tried running quotes online with the old address to see if its the address thats doing it or something else? Just because it appears to be safer, there's all sorts of factors which mean it could be a higher insurance risk

Just did that and it is the address :(

For some reason the new address seems to be poo

Yep remember its not just down to how nice the address is, there's all sorts of other factors involved. It sucks a bit but keep shopping around, playing with job titles and named drivers... the usual stuff

Don't want to put my wife on as a named driver as the premium shoots up another £800, and she hates driving "the tractor" (the Saab) so she'll never drive it. She also has 3 points. Child killer tbh :p

I doubt playing with my job title will reduce the premium from £1200 down to something sensible.

Do either of you stay at home during the day? My insurance dropped dramatically when I was working from home. Someone there more of the time methinks?

Our quiet little suburb where so little happens it's boring outside Brighton has a rating of D and my partners old council estate in Essex where you fear for your life is only an E?

How the hell do these idiots work this out?!

Are the quotes at your new vs old address related at all to car model, so if you quote on a 1.6 astra diesel or a 320i you see similar hike ? (I have used reg numbers off of autotrader for what ifs )
