I'm moving house and unfortunately won't be able to take my PS4 or Xbox One with me to watch films on since I won't even have a TV so I need to be able to watch films on my computer which thankfully has a Blu-ray drive built in.

Can anyone recommend some software for watching Blu-ray and DVD films at all for Windows 10? I have no idea what is consider the best these days for things like that.

MPC-BE
or
VLC
or
Kodi

In my experience, AnyDVDHD is a must for stable playback.

PS3 is an awesome blu ray player, I use this instead of the media pc. Blu ray and PC is a bit of a rough relationship.

Other half has had all sorts of problems with this and she ended up buying PowerDVD which was on offer at half price and she loves it!

This looks like the best option available to me I think. Thanks for the tip. I'll probably get this along with a subscription to LoveFilm because I can't take all my DVDs and Blu-rays with me.

Although I had used dvdfab with mpc-hc, people critique it as being a me-to of anydvd, and also apparently they will never update it for blue-rays using the new aacs 2.0 content protection.
But maybe anydvd will offer (as they did when slysoft system closed) to take dvdfab license holders on board for a nominal cost.

These systems all need access to an online database to open the blu-ray the first time it is used which is an inconvenience (so an airplane is out) and I have not understood their legal status - they are only enabling you to view what you have bought already, but the fact the providers have reverse engineered techniques to open the disks is controversial and the studios would sooner have them disappear ... anyone explain ?

powerdvd is a disaster of a program

Yep, and they keep bringing out new versions with all the new add-ons, instead of fixing this moist important issue, the picture quality.

I tried Powerdvd version 15 on a few computers hooked up to my projector with a 200" screen, and MPC beats it every time.
