Can you show where it explains how they'll get around the fact both France and Spain have stated they'd veto Scotland joining the EU? By what process could they bypass that?

Scottish independence ;) lol. They're only going to veto it while Scotland remains part of the UK.

The EU doesn't want to be held accountable for Scotland breaking away from the rest of the UK.

Once the EFTA is in place the Scotland thing will be dead and buried. I'm surprised people are even wasting their time it. It doesn't even need to happen.

nothing to do with the EU themselves but two memebrs and that isn't what they've said - France and Spain have stated they'd veto Scotland from joining (no conditions added re: that only being while they are part of the UK, in fact it is rather implicit that they're talking about an independednt Scotland) and your link (and you) can't explain how Scotland could get around that rather big obstacle... ergo it doesn't explain everything - in fact it is completely dead in the water due to those vetos

as has already been pointed out an EFTA deal would likely sway a lot of people, many others though in favour of the EU would put the UK first... there certainly isn't an obvious implication from the EU vote that the SNP would win a referendum second time around - it could easily be a close run thing

Do you have a source for this, without linking the daily mail or similar, or the BBC?

Seems like hot air to me. It'll be interesting to see how they go about accepting Scotland without fueling calls for independence among other regions, but I can't accept that they'd be refused membership. Scotland, Catalonia, Flanders. These are desirable parts of Europe, politically, legally and economically very compatible with the EU. Frankly, it would be a boon to the EU to have these potential nations as part of the union. It would be utterly insane to set a precedent that says such nations cannot join.

It's a delicate matter. The EU won't want to fuel instability in member states, but at the same time would want an independent Scotland to (re?)join. Where there's a will, there's a way?

Will leave voters really be happy about being in the EFTA? Seems like a total backwards step and doesnt offer half of what the leave campaign were offering.

It is hard to say at this stage. That would be a fall back position. What they manage to negotiate is going to be interesting.
