I've learnt that if I see a German car with the letters 'coc' at the start of the number plate, they're a local ('coc' for Cochem) and 1) they know the roads very well and 2) they don't half hang about!! 50kph through towns then bang straight up to 100kph, no messing around. The standard of driving here is soooo much better than the UK.

Priced up a set of OEM oil and dust seals from Fowlers £60 before postage

Jumped on eBay whole lot brand new in packets, £30. That's better.

I wanted to get a set of arrow silencers for my street but the price didn't justify it for me. I have since heard some in the flesh and they didn't sound that much different to the standard ones. It's a shame they go for so much as they are the only exhaust i like the look of.

Slow morning in the office had a look at what bikes Suzuki are offering some decent finance on, looked at the GSXR600 finance wasn't too bad at around £100 a month. Checked insurance almost £3k for the year

Brand new £9k bike, stored on a driveway, no security declared, in an ok but not great postcode, 10k annual milage. It was never going to be the £200 I pay now.
It was one of those times where fully comp was a few hundred quid cheaper than TPFT though, insurance making sense as always.

Ooph.

You got me curious (also a quietish day) so I was looking at the Yamaha deals. They seem great until you look at the final payment!

I don't foresee myself ever being able to afford a brand new car/bike unless it is from inheritance.

I quite the idea of having something brand new and shiny but then what would I sit in the garden and mess about with, nothing on it would need replacing for a while and I'd be much more wary of messing it up on something newer, more expensive and still under warranty.

I also hate the idea of having to pay someone to do an oil change just to keep the book stamped.

Oh I'd like to think at some stage in my life I'll be able to. I'm far from well off but I'm not doing too bad in the game of Life so far. If I couldn't afford £15k over a few years for a nice treat to myself I'll be disappointed.

But yeah, I would much prefer someone else take the hit and the boring wearing in stage!

Isn't he running Bridgestones, I think same ones I had on my SV? When I downshifted a gear to early sometimes the rear did like you to wiggle a bit. :p

They are Michelin road pilot tyres, they've got:

Dry Grip 90%
Wet Grip 87%
Road Feedback 83%
Progressiveness 90%
Wear 97%
Comfort 90%
Buy again 100%

Need to have a look over them again today, there's still 3mm on tread left too.

I had them on my KTM, I never lost grip in the wet... You're using the throttle in the corners, right? :p Taking corners with no throttle will make the bike unstable.

That is a surprise, they are supposed to be brilliant in the wet.

How old are they? have they always felt like that? if they have done plenty of miles or are old the rubber does go off then they don't feel the same anymore.
