Has anyone else noticed the huge amount of vram that the rise of tomb raider benchmark uses ?

I found it hard to believe when I saw that it was using 7700mb at 3440x1440

Hate to see what vram it uses/needs at 4K

It will use more than it needs in truth. Not to say that what is being stored in the cache doesn't help but I would imagine a 6GB card would be fine, although happy to be proved wrong.

i have tested this with same settings different cards from 2gb to 8gb and the same game / benchmark will use more if its available
But how do you know it not caching the memory on the lower GB cards ?

As running the same test on on my 3GB 780ti's in SLI was far from smooth..

Also quote from someone else https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=29299530&postcount=98
We can't run it. Not with very high textures, that's undoable in DX11 & 12.

How are we even getting results for the 970, 980 290 etc?

If I put very high textures on the benchmark falls apart because 4 gb's is not enough, I get missing textures, huge stutters and minimums that are minuses yet people are giving competitive results for 970's 980's and 290's.
It doesn't seem possible.

Only just got Rise of the Tombraider in the steam sale. Veeeeeery nice looking game and running more or less maxed out at 3440x1440 it's using the full whack of VRAM - 6120MB - of my 980Ti's in SLI at various points in the game. Runs great though, no stutter or any problems.
I'm using sweetFX/ reshade for the AA (SMAA) though and visual tweaks which is usually better than any in game SMAA setting. Dread to think what MSAA or high TXAA would use in terms of VRAM.
