I just saw this on the news, it must have been terrible for the guy.

http://news.sky.com/story/1721048/tourist-in-arab-robe-sparks-false-terror-alert

I'm not blaming the police in this though, they responded to what they thought was a terrorist situation, i am amazed they wasn't trigger happy, good on them.

But, the hotel worker that started the ball rolling and the phone call to the police needs locking up if she is found to have hugely exaggerated what she actually saw.

It is the effect the media has sadly. People do actually feel terrorised by clothing. Something to do with keeping the nation terrorised. How on earth can you work at a hotel and not know anything about eastern dress code?

She locked herself in the bathroom because she was so scared, police said.
Well done media, well done. Amazing how they don't even need terrorists to terrorise people any more :(

Also pretty retarded to lock yourself deeper within the building where you assume a terrorist attack is imminent. Why not just walk out of the front door seeing as you're a receptionist? So yeah retards gunna retard I guess.

I understand the need to be aggressive but I could barely understand the ridiculous instructions they are trying to give him as they are all shouting at once. You get the feeling they where just itching for an excuse to shoot someone all excited and amped up.

Did they ever say whether he had loads of mobile phones on him? Perhaps he was a mobile phone salesman?

I'm guessing that's one employee who is probably not going to be working in a customer facing role much in the future.

I would say the stupidity surprises me, but sadly that's no longer the case, at least the guy is relatively unharmed.

She must lead a very sheltered life and watch a lot of 'crisis' dramas in her spare time. :o Simply shocking lack of awareness!

Fox news! The only "news" show to win a court case on the defence that they are an "entertainment" show and hence do not have to report the truth.

Hell loads of Americans think Obama is a terrorist.

You do start and see why a lot of mainstream Americans have the views on the world if they take it as truth what the news program tells them when in fact its just an entertainment show. Though in this country we have the SUn, Daily Mail and The Express which serve the same purpose.

I bet if you did a poll people would think it was all truthful.

Tremble and despair: http://www.politico.com/story/2015/03/fox-news-trusted-network-poll-115887. I wouldn't be surprised if more recent polling wasn't even more skewed towards it, but they did start poking Trump so it might have put people off towers their competition. Here's hoping.

We fortunately have very specific laws about broadcast news which various foreign broadcasters have fallen foul of at different times, ranging from faux news for some of it's broadcasts getting a slap on the wrist, to Press TV getting it's licence revoked when it broke one of the biggest rules (repeatedly from memory) and then not even sending an explanation as to why they did what they did.

It still doesn't stop people screaming "bias" because a news outlet is reporting on an idiot of a politician making an utter fool out of himself and making the party look stupid.

You can't blame the police for this. They went in based on the information provided by the sister of the girl at reception.

The silly little girl should be made to say sorry to the mans face, as she clearly made up half the story. And to top it off the police should be fining her for wasting their time.
