Hi all,

So I am fairly new to overclocking, I have a basic understanding of it.

I have just purchased a new computer from here, it turned up Saturday and I am really happy with it but reading it up it appears my CPU has a good overclock potential so would like to look into it.

Is there a good guide/simple for overclocking my CPU. I am competent with a computer so modifying the BIOS etc is not an issue.

I do have an ASUS motherboard and there appears to be a tool to overclock your processor with that (AI Suite 3) but I would prefer a BIOS/hardware overclock as I assume that the overclock using that tool is done when you enter Windows, however I may also be wrong here.

I can also provide a full spec list of my PC if needed.

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks, Jason

Don't overclock with Windows software.

You may have an option in BIOS to figure out overclocked settings for you. You just tell BIOS what your cooling solution is and what you are using the PC for... OC Tuner or Auto Tune?

Have a look for it.

Thanks, I assume this will tell me the voltages that I need to change in the BIOS?

Will this stress test my CPU to see what a stable overclock will be?

Thanks again.

It'll set the voltages automatically. You need to "stress" test yourself. Run some benchmarks with Asus Realbench.

Keep an eye on your temperatures when testing, if they shoot high then abandon.

How are you cooling the CPU?

Ah ok, so it sets them in Windows to do the overclock, then I just replicate in the BIOS?

What is an acceptable CPU temperatue?

This is my new setup:
