To be honest I thought he'd calmed down over recent episodes and I didn't mind him to much. If he's gone off his own back then hats off to him.
If they can keep Matt LeBlanc along with Rory Reid, Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz and ditch Eddie Jordan, then that could have some great on screen chemistry. The car reviews/features done by those four this series and on Extra Gear have been great.

In the last episode, aside from the star bit (which is crap) he barely had more than a sentence in the studio bits. MLB basically opened the show, chatted to other presenters after their bits and I think he delivers the stig lines quite well. At this point there was little reason to have Chris Evans, and whilst his MG bit was alright he's never going to be of Harris standard for his 'reviews'.
I don't think it's a coincidence that in the episode he's had so little studio time I also found him least irritating

Just read the news. 
The bits and pieces I saw the first two episodes were pretty awful and I simply forgot it was on after that. With a bit of luck the next series might be worth watching, depending on the line up.
Chris Evans. You were rubbish. FACT.

So is it a fact!!? that he has gone
The news is on Extra Gear now. I think if they put the 20 minutes of extra gear into the main programme and canned the star in a rally car that would be good. Some episodes of EG have been better than the main show.

Oh dear, how sad, never mind.
Series grew on me as the episodes went by.
The hatred towards Evans unfair. I don't really get why he is so polarising.
I personally don't even have a problem with EJ. I really enjoyed the train bit.
On the other hand, I don't particularly get the lov-in for Harris. He's alright in his way but hardly the saviour of TG. Also Reid is again, alright.
I found Sabine a bit, well, German - she also reminds me of my ex so doesn't help her cause.
Le Blanc I thought was good. He and Evans did feel a bit forced but acceptable.
As for a replacement - what about the dude who did the Saturday cooking show? He's well into his cars isn't he?

oh and improve the scripting, that was bad. mainly as they thought they could just transfer the in jokes to the new team, and when they weren't failing the jokes, there just wasn't anything.
the way I see it is yes the old top gear was scripted, but it was scripted specifically for them. I would put money on them having a small crash and having a massive laugh and the scripters where like that's hilarious, carry that on. it never felt like the jokes didn't fit with the group.

I think they need to take the show in a different direction. Almost like 5th Gear with a bigger budget and make it more about the cars. They'll never be able to match the Clarkson, Hammond and May formula because they haven't got Clarkson, Hammond and May. I think they also need to try and not fit so much in. A lot of the episodes i saw felt like they were trying to shoe horn too much in and all the different parts suffered where they could have dropped one of the parts and spent the time on another.
Hopefully he isn't replaced and they just use MLB, CH and RR. They also need to stop meddling with CH's presenting style. His Vulcan review was good but the M2 one felt like Chris Evans had been giving him tips.
