I just can't seem to get into a solid routine latley especialy to fit things in.

I work nights monday to Thursday.

8:45pm (leave the house about 15 mins past 8) till 6am (get some about 6:20)

Finishing 6am friday.

For the last two months ive basicaly been away everyweekend, as my friends mostly live in manchester or london

So finishing 6am friday leaving 10:30am on the train and coming back about 3pm monday.

Atm I've also been doing some midweek over time sò starting 5:30pm instead of 8:45 because i havnt been able to do friday night over time (8pm till 6am).

I have got a power rack/bench/barbell in the garage but latley cause I've got no routine i can be swapping from sleeping in morning to afternoon to the whole day I've pretty much stopped working out.

Seems impossible to get a stable routine going that can accommodate for wither overtime or being sway st the weekend.

How would you guys plan out the day?

Sorry but I'm going to be blunt; quit working nights. I did it for 5yrs and it ruins lives, damages your health and turns you into a social recluse.

I've got to echo this, I did years of shift work and yes whilst the money is attractive it isn't worth it.

Quit doing any OT then find another job.

Look for a different job that suits your personal life a bit more. I think this will help a lot and maybe even think about looking elsewhere so you could move to another city if you find yourself travelling a lot at weekends just to meet friends (if feasible)

Or get friends to come to you rather than the other way around - at least make it more of an even share travel wise.

Spend more time to yourself - you don't need to go somewhere every weekend do you?

I like my job and i like working nights, so i don't want to change thst

Social life is good, these last few weekends have been really busy and grwat fun

Its just the whole trying to work out a stabble time to sleep, eat, get back to exercising.

One sdvantage of doing the mid week over time was i could be finished early in work (around 2am) and the sleep till the end of shift.

Can you not switch to working days?

Day shift is double days so, 1 week mornings 6am -1:20pm then the next week afternoons 1:20pm till 8:40pm

Repeat.

I couldnt hack that the switching was too mcuh.

Annoyingly the old people on our section voted down the 6 day pattern which is

Sun-mon-tues 12 hours then off for the other 4 days

Swapping every 8 weeks to wed-thurs-fri (saturday always off)

I'd have loved that only working 3 days a week and getting paid more

Well at least keep a minimal weight routine, do Push/Pull/Legs with focus on BP+OHP/Rows+Pullups/Squats+Deadlifts. Even if you manage 30mins 3x a week it's important.
