Appendicitis :-O

Had it taken out as a kid before it ruptured. Was in hospital for 3 days because I had a bad reaction to some medicine they gave me.

Did you not feel the pain beforehand? You usually have about 48 hours before it ruptures.

ruptured mine when i was younger (right in the middle of my gcse exams) had crazy pain for 2 days before i went to get it checked (due to exams and not being able to miss them)

apparently i should have gone to the hospital sooner but they cut them out sewed me up and i was out of the ozzy the day after for another exam. couldnt have happened at a worse time tbh.

The pain came on lunch time friday to which i just felt sick so thought it was some sort of bug. Didnt feel sick saturday morning but my guts hurt where i was walking round bent forward.

Thought enough was enough so went to A&E by which time the pain receded a little and the pre check nurse gave me some co codamol before i went in to see the doc.

The Doc had a prod around to which i was getting pain but not loads of pain. He sent me home and said see how it goes for a few days and if it doesnt get better go see my GP.

Saturday night i never slept a wink and the pain in my stomach was pretty bad. By morning it had eased a little again so was thinking of just leaving it but in the end thought id go back to A&E.

This time i saw a doc who dianosed it straight away by pushing on the area and quickly letting go which resulted in me jumping off the bed and saying some french.

By the time they performed the procedure sunday night apparently it was a 'very bad one' which had ruptured everywhere. Last night they sent me home but man am i still in pain.

Mine grumbled years ago but settled down so they decided not to remove it.

Was the worst pain I've ever been in. :(

Had mine out xmas eve 2000, felt perfectly fine the day before. Woke up, felt a bit sick with mild pain. As the morning went on felt sicker and sicker then went down the hospital mid afternoon as i was doubled over in pain.

Within about 2 hours of walking into the hospital I was being moved into surgery to have it removed.

It can and does come on extremely suddenly with little warning. The months leading up to it i was extremely stressed out with personal issues, therefore not sleeping and eating properly. However there was no pain at all up until the day I had it out.

Mine ruptured whilst on holiday in South Africa, 45 minutes from the nearest hospital.

Almost died, and a £6000 bill later meant I have never been so happy to have had travel insurance!

Wow. We had just got back from mallorca on Wednesday so I'm sort of glad it happened when it did.

Mine ruptured a few years ago - wow was the pain bad, morphine didn't touch it. Emergency surgery and a massive scare later and I didn't die - oh the joy.

Anyone here had it? Mine ruptured on friday and i had it out sunday. The flippin pain is unreal at the moment

Yep, I had it 8 years ago, was horrible. Luckily for me they caught it before it ruptured and as it was inflammed at the time they took it out because it was only a matter of days until it burst.

The pain after was also not nice.

Did they give you morphine for the pain along with Co-codamol?

had mine out in 2012 iirc, went into a&e doubled over in pain on saturday evening, after vomiting a few times I felt way better so they sent me home thinking it was a food poisoning or something. felt a bit off on the sunday then come 8am monday morning the pain hit me like a brick again so ended up back in a&e where they said, "yup, appendix". the morphine was a very welcome relief and 3 hours later i had the bugger out through keyhole surgery.

:)

What's the point of an Appendix anyway, in fact after I typed that I had a Google and still don't have the foggiest. Appendicitis sounds horrid anyway, the most pain I experienced was kidney stones, doubled up in agony until I passed them.

Slightly off topic, had a hernia op yesterday and in a bit of pain today, two weeks off work though so every cloud and all that.

I had mine removed when I was a kid, fairly simple process. The only annoying part of it was I had to remove myself from doing any P.E for a month.

Supposedly like tonsils, they have an immune system function for when we are young.
