Chance for a nice new motor

Thing that jumps out to me is why is an apparently non BMW dealer selling such a new, low mileage car?
Even at an official dealer, unless the car is a pre registered or manufacturer staff car, I am always a little suspicious of low mileage very new cars.

If it was a private buyer, why sell so soon?
Probably just me be overly sceptical! Or the fact I also got rid of a right lemon after only 6 months a few years back....

For that kind of money I'd just be going direct to BMW used approved. Plenty to choose from if you do a quick search online.

There are not actually that many that match my requirements

Blue or Grey
Pro Nav
Black Leather Interior

I always seem to be able to get just 2 of those 3 found.

That was my main concern, I did a check as on Autotrader the company is listed as S-Line Leicester. A google shows that the person I have been emailing with is the person named as the director for the company, but it also shows the company was dissolved several years ago.

I am not in a huge rush so may just wait until the right one does come up on BMWAUC.

TBH if i wanted an exciting, quick car for £22k, I'd be looking at a 2010 E92 M3 DCT.

It has bags of character, looks amazing, sounds amazing and drives like an M car. It benefits from many of the modern gadgets included in the iDrive.

Been out the past few days trying a few cars out and I think the one I plan to go and test drive tomorrow could be the one.

Today I tried the following

http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/use...-wells/605459550-104605.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_ - Nice enough and the 1.8 engine is pretty responsive, well specced ex demonstrator car (except base sat nav over upgraded version), but it didnt feel like a £25k car.

http://usedcars.volkswagen.co.uk/Go...708610-605748358-132349.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_ - Looked nice enough and the leather seats were very comfortable, but it just didn't do it for me.

I then spotted this - http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/use...-300-ps/605684592-12562.aspx?srcmdc=se_ce_re_ - and as it is 10 minutes from me I decided to pop up and have a look before it got dark. It looked lovely, is within my budget so I am going to go back tomorrow and get a test drive. If it drives as good as it looks then I will very likely be making an offer.

You realise it's the same car as the one you said 'didn't feel like a £25k car', yes?

Sure it'll be faster but it's still an A3 so if the fit and finish didn't feel like a £25k car to you then it isn't just because the engine is better.

Yes I realise that in principle, but the quattro, better engine, upgraded infotainment, leather etc, make a big difference (same as pro over business nav in the BMW's :))

All that M235i has as options is pro nav, rear parking sensors and tinted windows...doesn't seem like a great deal considering it's not an AUC car that you'll get good back-up with.

Put a deposit down this morning on my new car

Very happy with what I paid for it. I told the salesman what I wanted to pay on top of my car and left it up to him to get it there or not, it took 3 trips to the "manager" but eventually he met my price.

Pick it up on the 16th.

Spec highlights include

Pro Nav
BMW Apps
BMW online
Heated Electric Memory Seats
Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi
Front and rear PDC (audible only)
Service Pack until Nov 2019

I remember when the engine under the bonnet was more important than whether the nav was "pro" or not. Anyway, congratulations on your BMW 1?? ;)

Edit - model wasn't mentioned when I posted :(

Yeah sorry for some reason I assumed it was obvious it was the M135i (because I knew it was).

So yes the engine under the bonnet was a big influence, that straight six turbo charged engine is quite a beast.

First number they gave me was £17,700 with my car. I got it down to £16,500 with my car.

£23,980, which after my recent research is very competitively priced anyway. The front sensors are being retrofitted as well as part of the deal (ad said front and back PDC, it only had rear), which were an additional £550 cost they wanted to add on.

Personally, I would've kept that cash aside for at least 6-12 months to see how things will fair with the economy but grats - hope you enjoy it!

p.s. I also wouldn't overpay my mortgage much more. If you lose your job or for whatever reason fall into financial difficulty, a stash of 30-40k in cash will be more beneficial in seeing you through the next 6-24 months than a slight reduction in interest payments (of course that depends on the quantum of the mortgage!)

Looks like a nice M135i and has some nice options in Pro Nav and Harmon Kardon, to complement that wonderful engine! Lovely motor, enjoy! :)

Lovely car, beautiful engine.

The other thing is if you were inline to get £8k for your Focus in px, you didn't actually get much off the M135i?
