Summer Transfer Window 2016/17 - Rumours & Signings

From what JM said yesterday I kind of read into it that Baily isnt an automatic starter as yet, and is more for the future ( I think we should be going for another CB anyway no matter what)

Admittedly he also suggested that we only have one more pressing place to fill - most people suggesting this is CM which is probably correct - but maybe what JM said wasnt the whole truth?

Pure guess, just pointing out a possibility

In regards to Pogba (if we dont get him) , Matic is always lingering (and reportedly wants out of SB, but not sure if thats just journos talking ****), Gomes - less experienced than Pogba but maybe a easier deal to complete (no bad blood to start with), and would be vastly cheaper in transfer and wages but there are also a few lingering deals for La Liga midfielders (one of which I seem to recall is part owned by Mendes)

Personally would kill for Kroos but doesnt look like thats even a starter even if Pogba ends up in Madrid

If Utd do get Pogba, that's a pretty awesome lineup. I do wonder whether Ibrahimovic will be able to deliver the goals in the prem though. I know he just had his best season in terms of goals, but Ligue 1... !

Kroos might be available if Pogba goes there.

I do feel we need a physical presence in midfield, someone who can dominate.

Not only that, having someone who can play quality balls forward is essential, and we don't really have that - a Modric, Pogba, Kroos, etc.

Assuming Real Madrid can't get him/don't want him, Pogba is the most logical option.

Man Utd really starting to shape up nicely. Probably just a cb & dm they need now. I'm not really sold on Schneiderlin, remember that he had Wanyama next to him for Southampton.

Pogba latest from Di Marzio:

Paul Pogba started Euro 2016 slowly but has now conquered France. Tomorrow he will be playing an important game versus Germany. In the meantime, Manchester United's interest in him remains high. Manchester United are ready to make an important offer for Pogba: 120 million euros, which Raiola will present to Juventus at the end of the tournament.

Juventus consider Pogba very important, we now have to see how they will react to such an offer. Manchester United already have an agreement in principle with the player: 13 million euros per season net of taxes.

As for Manchester City, they remain very interest in Bonucci and would be willing to offer up to 50 million euros for him. There will be other meetings with his agent Lucci in the coming days. Bonucci-Pogba, Juventus have received many important offers for some of their key players.

Witsel is done, Mata is nearly done.

Going to wait for a multi announcement.

Not entirely sure why you're happy about it. Mata doesn't fit in any team and Witsel, forgive me if I'm wrong, is a generally attacking central mid with a uninspiring goal scoring record getting paid big bucks to be in the Russian league meaning like Mata he'll be an older, heavily paid not exactly great player? He hasn't impressed me at all for Belgium.

MAta is a guy who coasted along, drifting in and out of every game, only very occasionally having a game where he actually steps up and has a great performance. He'll get some assists from good delivery at freekicks and corners and some goals against weaker teams that give him space and don't out muscle him but apart from that he'll mostly disappoint while on a massive wage.

Both Witsel and Mata come across as, buying whoever is left over who is remotely rated at a high price/wage rather than going after younger hungrier better players ready to show their value rather than those who are likely way over valued. They are "look we're a big club, we're buying players who played at Utd" buys, rather than lets buy the most promising kid or the guy who actually fits the team brilliantly. Pelle/Tadic were cheap and would fit into the Southampton team where these two are like buying Rodriguez, a big name who would under perform while getting paid a lot.

Dreaming about either getting Lukaku, Lazcette and/or Morata and perhaps a bit of Benzema for good measure :p.

Wenger giving false hope to Arsenal fans yet again :/.

We got a goalie on trial for two weeks...

Hopefully he is going to sign a load of the French or Germany team ;)

Reality we will probably get rvp back :p

I assume we'll play the 4-2-3-1 system he's used in recent years.

So something like:

---------------- De Gea
-- Darmian- Smalling - Bailly - Shaw
--------- Schneiderlin - Pogba
--- Mkhitaryan - Rooney - Martial
------------- Ibrahimovic

Rashford will most likely rotate with Ibrahimovic.

This is a reasonably well balanced team, the main problem is: can Schneiderlin play the defensive role well enough for Jose? And if we don't get Pogba, none of our current options can do quite the same job...

You're mad if you play Mkhitaryan on the right instead of through the middle.

Yes, that means no place for Rooney because Memphis will be better on the right, but I think that's where Mourinho is going anyway. Rooney will likely be a sub for most of this season.

Albeit in a different league, but last season his best performances (reportedly) were from the wide right position - even though he was played throughout the season across the whole span of the attack (and even in CM)

I will be quite amazed if Rooney doesn't start most games next season. There must be a reason beyond the managers favour for playing an out of form player who inhibits the team 90% of the time. Mourinho has said that he won't be in midfield which is great but expect him to be shoehorned in somewhere.

Medical for Valdes, all but confirmed. Bit of a coup for Boro. Pleased with the business so far:

*Sign up Ramirez... check
*New RB... check
*New CM... check
*New GK... check

New striker next please! Oh and some cover/replacement for Downing, he was too inconsistent last year.

He played on the right for Dortmund & Depay was awful first season.
