EVGA RMA turn around - Still shocking?

So, time to bite the bullet, I'm forced to RMA my 980 ti with EVGA which I've been putting off for ages as a 3 week turn around is just insane... But oh well. Their kit has failed and I can't even game for more than a few hours without an issue :(

Anyone had to RMA anything to them recently? If so, how long did it take? It still miffs me that I have to pay for a recorded parcel to Germany which isn't reimbursed as well... YOUR product failed. Why should I be out of pocket for it???

I thought OCUK did the RMA for you, unless of course you bought it from somewhere else

They do chap, but they send them in batches (just spoke to CS), which whilst fine, I don't want to be without my GPU for any longer than needed. So whilst it's super kind of OcUK to provide the service, I don't want to take up on the offer :)

Most companies quote up to 28 days, so 3 weeks doesn't seem that mental.

I know, but in this day and age, you'd think that with 48 hour posting, it doesn't take up to 12 business days to test a GPU by sticking it into a test bench for 30 minutes to run diagnostics.

I'm just picky.

Get a hold of Ben the EVGA rep I'm sure he will help out.

It's only a simple RMA, no need to pester the man about such small things lol.

I'll RMA it, as it's UK office, I hope it won't take more than 2 weeks.

If you've got the cash you can do an advanced RMA mate, I did mine a while ago it was €750 which could well have changed (Brexit). You basically pay it and they send you the new card in advance, then you return the old one and its refunded as long as its not destroyed by human means and not warranty :)

Mine took about 3-5 days to get the new card from memory (in Feb)

Hi

Surprised and sorry you have had 3 weeks in the past.

Turn around should be 1 week from the date we receive your faulty product at our UK RMA base. Once this is checked and received then we will ship your replacement card to you within 1 week.

Let me know if you hit any issues.

Ben

Of course, because they are all just sitting there waiting for your GPU to arrive and they have nothing else to do the rest of the time :p. Try to read up on how waiting times/lists come to exist. Companies like EVGA are fairly popular so they sell a large number of GPUs. The more you sell, the higher the number of RMAs you receive (even if the overall RMA percentage for them is low - less than 2% IIRC) and their target turnaround will unlikely be any better than 28 days end to end. It wouldn't make business sense to staff their RMA department with myriads of testers simply to reduce your waiting time further, especially when there is no mandate to do so.

Pay for advanced RMA or just be patient. Or, next time you upgrade, keep the old GPU to use for such situations. Turning down a few settings in order to be able to continue gaming never hurt anyone.

Your moaning about having to pay to return it to evga but you turned down OCuk service to return it..

Three weeks isn't excessive. How much would these cards cost if the turnaround was 3 days? RMA costs are passed on to everyone and IMO GPU's are expensive enough without another premium for a service that 98% of people won't ever have to use.

I RMA'd my EVGA GPU last month. I dropped it off at the post office on the 11th, it was picked up on the 13th, it reached Germany on the 17th, and the replacement was delivered to me on the 22nd. It spent about four days in Germany, the rest was down to Royal Mail and UPS.

I paid £11 to get first class delivery, insured up to £500. Not a bad experience. Although I understand why they don't offer them, I feel prepaid labels should really be supplied for faulty products.

I've shipped my GPU's to Germany EVGA quite a few times over the years (2 times in the last 2 years for different cards) and it has always taken less than a week for a resolution (i.e. when they received the card) and for it to be shipped back to me.

However now there's a UK base I don't see the problem you're on about? Even sending it to Germany wouldn't be such a wait.
