Hey guys,

Am looking to replace my trusty old Hyper 212 cooler, with a nice new AIO cooler for my new case. Been looking at some and 2 that have caught my eye are the H110i GT & the NZXT X61 but there are loads out there and as usual, i cant make up my bloody mind lol. Just treated myself to the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX case and its awesome :D
It will be cooling my I5 6600k.
My budget is £130 for a cooler if that helps, if you have any other suggestions?

Thanks all!

My x61 hasn't failed me yet, and hopefully won't. I bought it over the H110iGT and don't regret it.

I'v heard a lot about the "Cam" software crashing and losing the fan profiles, causing potential damage to your CPU as the fans wont increase RPM under load due to software failure.
I know you can still set the fan profile within the bios (which i would most likely do anyway) but i was wondering if you can still set the colour of the "NZXT" logo, without the use of the CAM software?

I too heard all about this "Cam software causing massive issues"
I no longer use it since going full custom but I neve rhad any trouble.

Once the colour is set .. its set, you could uninstall the software if you really felt you had to.

X61 is a lovely bit of kit.

Awesome!, thats exactly what i needed to know :) thanks

Did you use the Pre-applied thermal compound, or did you replace it?

Pre-applied, but I tend to push down harder than anyone would recommend as I'm an old school builder and kind of don't care about what's right with thermals as I go with my past experience.

Also, have had the fans running without the software and once the colour is set, it stayed.

:) Thanks.. Mine arrived but started making some awful rattling sound which has kinda stopped now, but still ticks now and again... you think i should RMA it?

A little rattling as the air bubble inside moves about and then lodges out the way.

I don't remember any sort of tick noise thou?

Mine was very quiet period.

Mine goes quiet after about 15 mins of intermittent ticking (perhaps air) but if i set it to silent, it makes all them noises again... this is the first watercooler i have owned, and i dont want to send it back if i dont need to :)

Would a phone video pick the noise up do you think?
It is a rapid moving impellor, I suppose it will make some noise as it changes speed etc.

I can't say I have ever noticed when I had mine..

I wouldn't be too worried thou, what's the warranty length? I can't remember.

6 years... Yeah i think a camera phone would pick it up... imagine the sound that a small piece of paper would make inside a fan... like a "ticking" noise... it stops after a while though, but when i first got the cooler, it sounded terrible, so bad in fact that i turned off my PC ><

That will be the air bubble to allow for heat expansion etc
I had a similar issue, but as soon as it settled it was pretty silent

With a 6 year warranty maybe run it a month or so and see how it goes ? :)

Side note I've been using the Cam software for the last month to monitor temps and I've had 0 issues with it so far. Even the OSD seems to work well whilst gaming.

Thanks for the help guys... i will see if i can get a video of the sound... it makes a whirring noise too, when in games such as BF4, i can hear it over the fans.. you guys have that too?

UPDATE...

I found the issue, it wasnt the pump at all, it was the fan bearings all along... just sounded like it was coming from the pump!!

Interested in an X41 for an ITX build. Same idea?

Once you've set the colour the cooler seems to hold that until you install and change again.

Just been browsing for a solution but one of my fans has started making a noise, nothing drastic but now that I know it's there it is bugging me. Any ideas why it would start doing that?
I've had kit fitted for about a year now with no previous problems.

@treacle

The x41 design is identical expect its a thick 140 Rad, so should be perfect :)

@Rusko

I have to say I whipped the fans off after about a month as I didn't like the design of them (They the ones with all the weird cuts out near the edge of the housing etc yeah? )
The build quality seemed good thou, maybe just unlucky?
Replaced with Corsair SP140's not the best fan ever but not bad for the price.

Went to Noise blocker fans and they were brilliant before I went with an external rad solution that pretty much passively cooled.

Hope that helps.
