Spec Me: An Office Chair for a wide arse!

I'm after a new office chair as my current one is about to give up.

I want something half decent and solid, but my main need is one with a wide flat seat. I'm a big guy and we have a couple of Herman Miller chairs at work. The edge of the seats curve up too soon for my butt meaning they dig in a bit and are uncomfortable after not long at all.
I also tend to lift one leg up and put my foot under the thigh of the other leg, sort of sitting on my leg, which can't be done comfortably on a seat with a curved base.

Not fussed about material, but might prefer a mesh fabric as opposed to a leather as its cooler and less prone to cause sweatting. A high solid back would be good too.

Something under a couple of hundred would be good.

Just to add to the mix, if your bottom is too wide for a normal seat, do you think maybe it might be time for a diet?

I am a big guy myself, very broad but luckily have a tight butt, so please dont think I am one of those muesli eating health freaks putting the world to rights,

and again, I have a gut on me, and it is uncomfortable when I sit forward for a period of time, but I diet now and again, to get it off, I guess a slow yoyo diet type.

go for it dude.

I'm not (that) fat, I'm just big. 6'4", wide shoulders, wide hips, long legs. I don't fit on planes as my thighs are longer than the gap between the seat and the seat in front, etc.

I fit in office seats, but having wide legs and also sitting with them apart means seats that aren't flat are uncomfortable. If I sat with my legs firmly together and directly forward then the Herman Millers would be fine, but thats not how I sit.

Where should I look for refurbs? And is there anywhere I can go try some out?

I got my leap on eBay from seller 2ndhnd. They done a good job on it but there was a issue with the arm. They replaced the whole chair and collected the faulty one a week later the replacement was perfect.

Cool. The Think looks like a good option, flat base and with a mesh back. Its also cheaper than the Leap.

I'd like to try them out though. Does anywhere like Staples etc stock them?

The leap was replaced with the v2 years ago and the only way places that sell them new are office supply companies and they generally only sell them in large quantities so no idea where you can try one out, I just took a gamble on one.

Most Herman Miller office fitments are small or mid sized, you can get a bigger one. I have a Mira for my home office and I chose that over the Aeron as it had an adjustable front that I could bend downwards for comfort.

Yeah seems theres little to no ability for general consumers to try them anywhere. Hmm, might just have to take a punt.
